Hello Scion folks,
My Scion xA 2005 has passed the respectable 135,000 mile mark and I want this baby to last past 200,000.

I have a great mechanic G Winn down here in San Diego (http://www.yelp.com/biz/g-win-auto-repair-san-diego) but he only seems to do the bare-minimums and I am always afraid he is not being pro-active in maintaining my car.

Does anyone have a list of parts that should get replaced or a schedule of maintenance for the xA?

learn to turn the wrenches your self its a great satisfaction in the end results and you'll save a ton of money

Your owner manual tells you what to check at 135K miles ... just keep up with that.. Change wear and tare parts before they are to worn or damaged.. and Learn to do the simple stuff your self. (anything your don't need a lift to do ) ...

Congrats on that milestone, I saw a video on youtube of a guy whos XA had hit 400K. My local Toyota dealer gave me a hand out a few years ago, that listed all the maintenance that needed done every 15K or 30K,kind of a fancy spreadsheet format. I do a lot my self, but stick to my own conservative schedule, replacing parts before needed. I have always done this, and continue to on all the family cars, and my motorcycles. I am now 59 years old, and have had very few problems in all these years. Buying Toyotas definately helps.

Oh, and I only use synthetic oil in everything.

only synthetic i don't do is the ps and the brake fluid... only the engine, trans and blinker fluid gets the full synthetic

Just got a 2005 xA with 115k, so this thread interests me.
Also, my xB just turned over 106k.

From what I know, which is little, I would,

check/change - oil, spark plugs, brake pads
clean - air filter (need special K&n kit), throttle body (heard it helps)

What else should I add?
I don't know about changing auto trans fluid.

As for the xA, bone stock, I'm not sure what works and what doesn't. It rides quite well for now. Tires are garbage Firestones though.

I read up on those Gabriel shocks, cheap and improved from what one guy said.

I'm at 90k(just hit it on the way home) I've changed wheels/tires, intake, brake pads, front struts, lowered it, still need to do rear shocks, thats it, I'm on original plugs and belts

i think almost you have to change all the parts

my 2005 XA just crossed 165,000 miles. Follow the mainenance schedule in the manual, change the oil often (every 5000 miles or less) and be nice to your car. Mine is the family truck, amazing what you can haul in it. I hope to keep driving mine for another few 100K miles.
