Default How Did This Part Tear Off Like That?

I was opening up my trunk and the latch came off

Does anybody know if I can replace this? If so, where?

Its the part I outlined in red for you guys....

Someone just posted a thread about this a couple of days ago. You don't lift from the handle, you're supposed to press the button then lift from the bottom of the hatch (while the button is still pressed). You can go to the dealer and order a new one. Used ones are frequently on Ebay and occasionally here. There are CF and fiberglass versions on Ebay as well.

It's probably the cheapest place to get it NEW. Other then that you could check part outs or junk yards for it if you want it cheaper USED.

Wow, did not "know" that. I always used it as a one handed operation.
My hatch is sometimes hard to open in cold weather, even with brand new OEM struts.
Thanks for the tip to prevent future disasters. Surprised I have not done any damage within the last 5 years.
