Default Well it happened.....the dreaded flying rock.

A rock flew up and starred my window just behind the review mirror.

C'mon aftermarket guys.... wheres my bug deflector ??? I think that will help the slipstream over the roof.

Move to FL If you have full coverage insurance, you'll get it fixed for free with no detriment to your insurance rates

yes where a hurricane can pick you car up and thorw it into the ocean on a annual basis! just kidding man florida rocks! oj lives there i meant to say orange juice comes from there.

but seriously ive been down the broken windsheild road. try and get that crack filled asap. since its behind the mirror it shouldn't be so bad since you wont have to look at it.

if its already cracked see if ppg or some other aftermarket company has the glass out yet. even with a decent hookup it was PRICEY to replace that thing. Also make sure they use a toyota window seal on the gasket. At the top two corners of the windshield are special "bends". generic gaskets don't have those bends and will pucker up and whistle.

Sorry to hear about yours but that's nothing compared to mine. I was following (next lane, behind him) a flat bed truck the other night that had left over dirt/rocks from a job, still had a good pile about 1/2 foot high. For like a full minute, all I could hear was crackling noises and I was like what the hell is that noise. That's when I finally noticed the back of this guys truck. Next morning, I got all these little dots everywhere in the glass. I'm sure there's like 20 little sparkles thru-out the whole windshield. Its not cracked all the way thru but I couldn't get em out either.

Don't expect much from a bug deflector. The windshield is quite a bit more "vertical" and fairly low to the ground. The deflected airstream from a bug deflector won't affect the flight of a rock all that much.

If you think that we're unhappy about it, imagine the screams from people in Montana and Wyoming (rock chip capitals of the US) when they get xBs!

ppg does make one (i have one) but the molding has to come from the dealer as there is no aftermarket ones yet

I thought they generally used the old molding? Is that not possible?

the molding is actually glued down so if they reuse the old molding it can leak because removing the molding stretches it and plus dosn't look very good

hey toybox1 how much was that ppg windshield? Are you happy with it? how many miles? and your life story?(j/k about the last one)

i ask because i am also on windsheild #2 but its toyota. and well, japanese windshields seldom give the same performance as the cars they are installed on. My 92 maxima had a ppg replacement from when it was 6months old and it looked as good(when i sold it last year) as the #2 windsheild im sporting now. so it looks as though #3 couldnt be too far off.

id love to get your views on the ppg and im sure im not alone.
