Why the F*** not right?

May 2008 when I got the car.



First thing I did was take off the crappy plastic hiding the valve cover and the heat shield for the exhaust manifold.


Small crap right, then I painted the waterfall to match the upper portion where its flat black.


Month later I added a Dr. Isotope short shifter and bushings.


Painted the valve cover red. And added 5000K HID's from DDM Tuning, and an Injen Intake.


Then she sat like that for a LONG time while I was busy getting laid off. Then once again while I went to BMT for the Air Force and did 4 months of training in Florida. Once I got to Virginia, I got the modding craze again. It started with a "mandrelexhaustsystems.com" 2.5" exhaust.

I quickly added 25% Tint to all the windows. And a finger in the picture from my camera.


Then instead of replacing my tires, I bought wheels and tires. 19x8.5" Tenzo R GT-6 wheels wrapped in some rubber.


I soon added free lowering springs from my buddy. Tein S-Techs


Road on those for about 3 months before my friend de-modded. Then I grabbed his Function and Form Type II's and S2000K antenna. Plus a good clay, polish, and wax.




And thats as she sits now. Future mods are always in question.

Nice build! It's the simple things that count. How do you like your exhaust? I have the same one but Borla muffler. Getting rid of it for group buy ptuning axle back.

I think you should invest in:

- Ingalls 4-Point Rear Brace

- Progressive Rear Sway Bar

those 2 Mods will make ur driving World awesome!

 

I'm slowly saving up for a rear sway bar. My mods are coming slowly since our first daughter was born today. But I like the clean look I have going.

 

loose the front license plate and get an oem lip kit, add a header and thats it

Losing the license plate leaves 2 holes from the screws in which it was attached. And no, painting cheap clips and putting them in is not a fix. Plus the car was hit in a parking lot about a year ago, left the front bumper cracked. So it will be replaced entirely soon.

Front is too low for my suits, the rear needs a bit to even it out.

hey did you ever get rid of your header rasp? I put my dezod exhaust on and with the header it was sooo crappy. I was thinking of getting 2 resonators but wanted to see what other people were using.

 

Nah, its still there. I've been busy with working plus surgery to try to figure it out. I do have a plan of a real resonator vs. a glass pack and maybe a different muffler to get rid of it.

 

Semi update, but a bad one. Last night here in HR, VA we got a lot of rain. Where the house is the street ended up flooding. The car was parked in the driveway but our Trailblazer was pulled in first, putting the car near the street. I wasn't awake for any of the rain, but I know it was pouring when I fell asleep. Went to goto work today with my buddy and saw about 2" of water on top of the carpet. Spent about 30 mins sucking all the water out to find under the carpet is still like an ocean. Air bag light is now on, and there is debris clear up the engine mount halfway up the header. Awaiting insurance.....FML

sucks...we had a car flooded like that. It was sitting for sale in the driveway, ended up in water up to the headlights. You could see the water line inside the car around the air vents. Only had liability on it. Soooo... gutted, cleaned, gave to my brother in law, and he sold it! The only real problem was it washed all the grease/lube out of the throw out bearing, so it made a little noise, but still shifted fine. Does your insurance cover floods?

 

Insurance is covering this. They are coming to tow it today or monday. The bottom of the seat about to the height adjustment **** is soaked. Even after soaking as much water as possible there is still a puddle between carpet and floor. Neighbors said at 1 am they could not see my front license plate. I am lowered about 1" over factory height, and its consistent with the marks on the engine mounts.

 

Won't they total this? Sorry for the bad luck bro.

 

I have no idea if it will be totaled or not. And various google searches have yielded different results.

Rundown of KNOWN issues as of yesterday.
-Airbag light on
-Exhaust blew out water/vapor for 10-20 mins
-Locks went crazy when unlocking (like if you pull the handle and hit unlock)
-Standing water in cabin, 1-2" above carpet. Under carpet 2 or more inches. All padding soaked. Pushing down on carpet creates a waterbed affect.

As for bad luck. Not really. We had been tossing around the idea of getting a 4 door vehicle because of our 5 month old daughter. If it is totaled, I will look at getting another WRX or a Legacy GT.

 

Photos. The ones with water are after it had stopped raining and the street cleared. Probly about 4-5 hours worth of not being under water.

**Edit** The water in the car photos were taken with the car sitting in the driveway on a slope of about 10-15*.



The next one is where some of the debris from the street and yards ended up settling. This is after I moved the vehicle out so I could drive the TrailBlazer.


And finally being towed away.

 

That sucks dude. Does the city maintain the drainage on the street? The lower end of my neighborhood is considered a flood zone and the drainage system cannot handle a good rain. It gets so deep there is actually a fire hydrant that disappears under water.
Any other vehicles you are considering aside from the subies?

On base housing, "city" has nothing to do with where we live. The housing that is contracted maintains everything. In 3 weeks we move to a brand new house and they are tearing this one down. I'm contacting the housing office about their insurance and responsibilities in the situation. (Housing is contracted out)

To paint the engine I used a simple engine paint you can get at any parts store.
