View Full Version : TRD Muffler
mancide 03-12-2005, 03:52 AM If you have this do you like the exhaust sound? Do you have a clip of it online? Also, has anyone noticed if Sparks or McGeorge ever do free shipping on this item? I'm probably going to order from one of them since my dealer says they can't come close to their price.
Thanks in advance.
I don't have a sound clip, but I do like the hum that it makes when i'm driving. The idle is pretty aggressive sounding too. There are a few clips i've heard on the site try doing a search for them.
TurboMe 03-12-2005, 04:14 AM I have and I love the sound it make. Even at idle it sounds sweet. I get complements all the time. McGeorge does charge shipping.
Here are some great clip of the TRD exhaust:

theres an idle/takeoff/flyby
gLuck!
leonDB 03-12-2005, 04:32 AM It sounds really nice! It isn't obnoxiously loud, but it can be heard. It doesn't get unbearbly drony cruising the highways, and the tone is pretty deep. Also, it doesn't get high pitched in the upper ranges. Go for it!
johnnyTCblaze 03-12-2005, 04:40 AM No doubt about it. The TRD exhaust sounds bad@$$. One of the best things to mod your ride wit
glitterboy 03-12-2005, 04:48 AM It's not too loud or gaudy... which I like.
trench 03-12-2005, 05:27 AM Cant wait to get mine installed! two more weeks!
mancide 03-12-2005, 04:45 PM Thanks for the clips! Now I'm just going to wait and see if I can catch it on a free shipping special, $70 bucks is a lot for shipping.
mancide 04-08-2005, 01:04 PM Well I got it installed last night, again thanks for the clips. I think it sounds great!
glitterboy 04-08-2005, 01:27 PM Watching the clips, I wonder if my exhaust sounds the same.
dgHotLava 04-08-2005, 01:54 PM moved...

mancide 04-08-2005, 05:08 PM *sigh*
I wish I had known about them before I ordered. Oh well, live and learn I guess.
jwaggz82 04-08-2005, 05:16 PM seems like http://www.scionpartspeople.com is the best place to get this exhaust? Is there truth to this? What is the install time on this if getting done at a shop?
fivepointnine 04-08-2005, 05:46 PM I love my TRD exhaust, it sounds sooo good. Well see after I install the header though.

From what I have read (haven't done it myself yet) it's not hard at all to install this...only a few bolts??
eujin 04-08-2005, 07:50 PM this is probably the only exhaust that i've noticed changes its tone when the car is fully warmed up to temp. and it sure sounds sweet
wesf23 04-08-2005, 08:01 PM Love It! Great for someone who doesn't want one too loud, sounds very smooth

It is soo easy, I did it in a drivway. 2 bolts 3 hangers. Hint use dishwashing gel soup to slide the hangers off.
We also did it on the ground without any lifting of the car.
Scionpartspeople.com is the cheapest I could find with shipping to my house and I spent many work hours looking.
djjason101 04-08-2005, 09:59 PM Definitely BAD ___...I HAVE THE TRD and I LOVE IT! Well Worth it...
ProjectD 04-08-2005, 10:01 PM Damn, I have been contemplating whether or not I should get this, but now..........I HAVE TO!
Damn, I have been contemplating whether or not I should get this, but now..........I HAVE TO!
The only thing I can say, because it didn't seem like anyone else did, is that the good sounding exhaust goes away when you add racing headers (no cat). So, if you're going to do this type of mod, then be forewarned that the sound changes and gets a little ricey. But, apparently everyone seems to be having this problem with any exhaust.
Just wanted to throw that out there.
jwaggz82 04-09-2005, 12:48 AM I have heard the same thing from pretty much everybody that has changed the headers. That is one main reason why I will not change mine. Stick w/ the intake and exhaust people.

thanks for the warning, but i have no plans on changing the headers. I want to keep my car street legal.

therearetimez 01-31-2006, 01:25 AM is the trd muffler the same one they offer on scion.com or the dealers? how good is the trd muffler? is the warranty affeted by the trd muffler? thanks
SciontCya 01-31-2006, 01:36 AM TRD axle-back is nice. For $348, you can install it easily. I like it - nice looking, stainless, and sounds god without being obnoxious.
It's TRD, so it won't hurt your warranty.

jwaggz82 01-31-2006, 08:15 AM jesus - i have to stop watching this post. therearetimez - if you want no performance gain and added sound get the TRD exhaust. If you want performance then get draxas.

chuynh207 01-31-2006, 03:51 PM don't waste your time, if you get the TRD exhaust you'll regret it if you get headers and even an s-pipe won't help in the end. Save your money and get the HKS Exhaust off of eBay cuz that's the best sounding exhaust out there, even if you add headers and s-pipe! Trust me, I would know... had the TRD exhaust and I liked it until I got headers...
Jarrod123 01-31-2006, 04:05 PM i think the trd exhaust with an intake sounds really great. i am not planning on buying a header for a long time so when i do i guess i will also buy a resonator.

I think that's a good idea if it's pi$$ing you off so much... :P
