View Full Version : Gotta Love Crappy Exhaust Sounds!!
SupaWhiteTc 03-12-2005, 03:02 PM Soo... I put my DC-Sports header on last night and it mad my car sound like a 1.5L Single Cam Civic with a straight pipe. I now have $1,000 in my exhaust and my car sounds like it is farting. I am very unhappy with the sound, but the car feels a lot more powerful with the header and exhaust.
Lonely_Raven 03-12-2005, 03:10 PM That's my worst fear, and I DO have a 1.5L engine!

That really sukcs. Maybe its time to look into a different exhaust system?
KINGxOFxSKA 03-12-2005, 06:43 PM i wonder wut it'l sound like with the TRD axle-back..?
TurboMe 03-12-2005, 06:45 PM ouch make way for the rice rocket
tckurt 03-12-2005, 07:39 PM what exhaust do you have?
jrv2000 03-12-2005, 08:10 PM what exhaust do you have?
look at his sig
lvnurs9 03-12-2005, 08:30 PM I wonder if its the header??
Dave has the same exhaust with that header (I think) and his sounds fine...
send him a PM and ask- ScionBandit
Souljah347 03-12-2005, 08:47 PM just about any race header will make the car sound ricey, it's just the price you pay for the highflow

Maybe not if we put a flowmaster muffler on the car. Has anyone tried this?
engifineer 03-12-2005, 09:21 PM I have heard a bunch of complaints about that exhaust/header combo. Some about that exhaust alone. I am staying away from the CC exhaust all together.
f1nch 03-12-2005, 09:59 PM ooohhhhh!!!! dont tell me that.....i said the same thing when i put my header on.. i was hoping to get the CC exhaust to clean up the sound .. i guess there is no way to clean it up.... damn.... ...and the TRD axle back wont help... my custom axle back sounded like a porche until i put my header in.......grrrrr that is BAD news!
English 03-12-2005, 11:43 PM It even sounds a little raspy with the stock exhaust (what I have)
Whocares05050 03-13-2005, 12:21 AM Hey, in that case im thinkin of just putting a turbo muffler on then when i get my header, it will still give me some sound but tone it down a little
mikochu 03-13-2005, 12:27 AM Hey, in that case im thinkin of just putting a turbo muffler on then when i get my header, it will still give me some sound but tone it down a little
Uh...I think it'll be the exact opposite. It'll be real loud... I have a friend with a Apex'i N1 Turbo on his Celica GTS and it's very loud...
nycazn79 03-13-2005, 03:17 AM i wonder wut it'l sound like with the TRD axle-back..?
Bad.....:(

SupaWhiteTc 03-13-2005, 04:36 AM It is not the exhaust it is the header. I highly reccommend the CC exhaust it sounded beautiful until I installed the header.
leonDB 03-13-2005, 05:02 PM Yeah, the header is without the precat... I bet with it on the exhaust would sound good.
bdballer69 03-13-2005, 05:06 PM i wonder wut it'l sound like with the TRD axle-back..?
yea me too
sonicscion 03-13-2005, 06:29 PM have you thought about adding in a resonator to quiet down the sound?
f1nch 03-13-2005, 06:44 PM yea that might work!!!! a custom 2.5 pipe.. from the s-pipe back ..high flow cat and a HUGE resonator or maybe double resonators and a good borla/magnaflow muffler....hmmm garuntee it would be cheaper then 500 or 700 bucks for that matter.....
What's a CC exhaust? thanks.
SupaWhiteTc 03-13-2005, 10:49 PM It's not too loud it just sounds really really raspy. I guess you have to sacrifice sound for power though. You can make fun of my exhaust while I am flying past you I suppose.
f1nch 03-14-2005, 01:15 AM yea mine is loud as f**k too..and it sounds good til about 3500rpm .....then it starts sounding like a lawnmower....
DouBLeJ16 03-14-2005, 05:20 AM if you guys want a nice sound & good performance, go with the magnaflow exhaust (when it finally comes out) & any header.
the reason the CC exhaust doesn't sound good with the header is because it's 2.5", the magnaflow will be 2.25"
f1nch 03-14-2005, 06:08 AM piping...? ya think so.... well from what i hear 2.5 what most of the stock pipe is...so 2.25 i dont know but you would definately keep/pick up some low/midrange....
i think i'm gonna order a magnaflow universal..take my other cat out and put a big resonator on..2.25 sounds like a good idea....
SupaWhiteTc 03-14-2005, 03:27 PM Why would that make it sound better?? Bigger piping equals better sound and more power. Making it 2.25" will make it sound raspier and even more like a Honda. If anything I think I should have gone with 3" piping.
f1nch 03-14-2005, 04:58 PM then.....your gonna lose all your back pressure or "exhaust velocity" and have no mid/lowrange power....
Gmoney 03-14-2005, 08:14 PM if you guys want a nice sound & good performance, go with the magnaflow exhaust (when it finally comes out) & any header.

isnt stock 2.25"...........the reason the car doesnt sound very good is due to the header.......it has nothing todo with CC cat back. I for one will be buying the CC cat back next month with the megan racing header.
f1nch 03-14-2005, 09:19 PM i just ordered a borla muffler and the k&N CAI...i was one click away from ordering the CC cat back w/no cat..im not paying 6-700 bucks for a f*ckin muffler and some piping!!! thats f*ckin insane...could have a shop do the SAME exact thing for $100....i dont care if its stainless no one hangs out underneath my car anyways..and the stock ____ isnt stainless either...worst comes to worse.. spend another $100 in a couple of years if it rusts out...
Gmoney 03-14-2005, 11:19 PM you were one click away from ordering the CC cat back............but yet you turn around and diss the price............you pay what you get!!!!!!!!!! all i got to say.
tckurt 03-20-2005, 09:01 PM f1nch you should of gone with the aluminum one that they make its a little over $100 bucks cheaper than stainless steel. Also the exhaust that your talking about is 587.50 w/o cat and before shipping. So don't get where you got 700 bucks from ,but your loss.
lvnurs9 03-20-2005, 09:11 PM aparently it is the DC Header that is causeing the exhaust issues because those with the megan header do not experience this.
kocho333 03-20-2005, 09:59 PM ^^^^WERD, your not the only person complaining about the dc headers, of the 3 people i know that put them in their tc;s all said that it completely ruined their exhaust setup
