I've been having my Fujita SR intake for a while now. However I've been disregarding this noise that comes from my engine this past year. Every time I drive over slabbed pavement at slow speed there is a noticeable metal-thunk. It comes from the driver's side where the intake is located. Figuring it's a metal sound, it's most likely my intake since it's metal and in a small enclosure of the car. I tried tightening it and perhaps it's hitting the OEM fogs? Any ideas from people with a SR intake would be appreciated :)

I know my fogs are on the verge of breaking because my Fujita Short Ram is jammed up against the fogs. That could definitely be the problem

I have a 06xb with a Fujita short ram too, but I dont notice any clanking metal noise. It might be a different part of the car making that noise.

Also, check to make sure your battery is completely bolted down!

Also, California makes our Fujita Short Ram illegal for use because it is not CARB exempt! When you go in for a smog check, make sure to reinstall the stock airbox and intake!

I could be wrong, but I had a similar metal clunking sound, for me the top bolt on the strut (the one hidden by the rubber cap) was loose, that could be it, it may not be that, but id check just incase

my air box makes a lot of movement, and noise at all. the hotter it is outside the worse it sounds, and more it seems to vibrate. it's a common problem on xb's apparently, and just a factory defect. my best friend thinks zip ties should be enforced around to keep it from shaking. he's tried to convince me the air box will come apart when i'm driving down the road i think he's full of crap! i have the stock system though.

Assuming there was no "thunk" before you swapped your stock filter for the SR, try the obvious... move the intake around by hand... see if there is any vertical movement. Check the screw clamps, make sure they aren't rubbing or hitting anything. I don't have an SR so I can't comment on where it's happening.
