I decided to see how fast my car could go once. Evidently, the 1st Gen tC is limited to 127MPH.

I was on a flat stretch of road. I maxed 5th gear at about 125-127 or so. When I put it in 6th, I was able to go to about 132MPH. I then saw the speedometer drop to about the 127MPH range FROM 132 before I ran out of road.

I can't recall if the speed dropped because I was going uphill or not. Too many things going through your head at that speed.

I haven't really wanted to try again since. So has anyone else made note of hitting any sort of speed governor in the 2nd generation tC?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the 1st Gen tC will not go any faster than 127MPH because it hits the rev limiter. (Maxing out 5th *final* gear)

I've hit about 127 in my auto tranny (don't ask), and I topped out a tC1 at 110 (both auto and manual).

the speed limiter will be set to a maximum speed based on stock tire rating. much safer/easier way to find out

Let's say i purchase tires rated for 140 MPH. How would one adjust the speed limiter for that new speed rating.

Tc1 maxes out at 127 due to speed limit but even with the trans you will only go a couple more mph before you hit top speed.
