I've been lookin around at alot of the rides here and the xB definately looks great dropped, but I live in New York where the road conditions are usually choppy at best and I wouldn't feel comfortable dropping it (those of you who have seen smacked and chewed up air dams from low ground clearance know where I'm coming from) so I was wondering if anyone had any info on any upcoming air bag setups so I could get the best of both worlds--- thnx

The xB is a pretty low car, I think it doesn't really need to be lowered since it looks good factory height.

Yeah, I'm in Rhode Island and we have the same roads...choppy. I suggested an air ride awhile ago. I still haven't heard anything. I'm going to ask Jason over at Scioned.
Let me know if you find any.

Ground Zero has the best setup for Scions.
They had one in their booth at SEMA 2002.
Pretty nice.

I wouldn't trust any other bag over strut kit..

anyone hear anything of the recently introduced bridgestone praxis system. from the brief synapsis i have read, its suppose to be better than coilovers, using air.

??? it's got a 6.1 inch ground clearance, what's low about that?

From what I've seen with air setups, you REALLY gotta use quality parts and pay attention to your install to get a good ride. I mean, it's not like airbags are some untested mystical voodoo technology that can't be made to work well; heck, check out all their industrial uses in applications that abuse them for longer periods than they would be cycled in an automotive application. I think when we hear the horror stories about stuff like bags popping it's most likely because people install them in situations where the bags rub, or they just plain use cheap, made in china bags, or we hear about sticking or failed valves, most likely because they use cheap, no name valves! And of course there's always the horror stories involving air line leaks, but I'm sure 9 times out of 10, that's the result of a shoddy installation with poorly-cut air lines, or even just the use of inferior tubing that splits and leaks air.

I think it's totally possible to get an air setup to be reliable, and to ride and perform well. The Praxis system is most likely going to spearhead the movement in that direction. All the parts are of high quality, and it's got a nice sophisticated electronic controller. Of course, it's not cheap, but as always, you gotta pay to play...
