Question before I plunk down some $$ for a SRI, I'm planning to get the Injen IS2100 BUT I've been seeing all this info about the Amsoil Dry filters.
From what I can see, these do NOT come on the IS2100, if I were to go pick up a new one, I'll end up with the 'red' filter which looks to me like a standard K&N.
Is the only option there to buy the 'blue' filter elsewhere?
...or is there any point to getting the dry filter vs the oiled. I've been running the factory AEM CAI since '05 and figure it's time to replace it.
AND has anyone found any issues with fittment using the OEM fogs, the AEM CAI is almost touching the foglight, and I'd love to avoid that with the SRI.

Ive got the injen sri and it has the k&n style oil filter.Mine pretty much sits right under the headlight and when i take it out for service i pop my foglight cover out and un screw it from there.So id say it would be sandwiched between them.If you want i can take a pic of it to give you a better idea.

I'd really appreciate that, just concerned the filter would hit the foglight bulb, I still remember the pita it was to wiggle the AEM CAI so the filter would not bump the foglight and make it wobble while driving...

I actually have the blue dry flow filter from Injen. Seems to be louder than when it had the oil-coated red filter. As for clearance of the fog light, I won't know.
I got a 3" filter but fits a bit loose. I just clamped it tighter so maybe a 2.75" would do. Just ask the reps. Just make sure its the blue filter

Fun news, the Injen did not come with the "X-1041 Inline Replacement Defuser for IS2100 and RD1985" like my instructions showed. Called Injen and they said the part has been discontinued...??
Wonder if it has anything to do with cutting costs, or if testing showed we don't need the Defuser, and our MAF issues are nothing to do with the breather hose being so close and before the MAF... how odd.
Folks at work are telling me to just cap it. Wonder how bad that would be, really don't want to go the other route I looked into, found a fuel filter that could work, just need to get some brass hose fittings from like a Home Depot. Seems like a ... ugly way to go.
....aaand the sites selling the X-1041 are charging ridiculous shipping and/or handling, $6 part, $10.95 handling...gtfo.

So I am thinking Injen is much wiser than I and I should be fine installing the SRI without the in-line defuser. I'm also installing a new MAF sensor since it has been 90k with the old one and the AEM CAI.
Safe? Go get the defuser? Rig up an oil catch can or fuel filter?

Dam i been so busy sorry ill take the pic right now.That line you are talking about that runs from the valve cover to the intake does catch oil,but i do recall one time it was soaked with oil after i did a light run so maybe a catch can would be a good idea or plug the valve cover..
