Default Need help choosing stereo from dealer for XB 8.0

I have just ordered my 2011 xB and I just have a couple of days to decide between the following three stereo choices:
1 - the Apline upgraded stereo for $449
2 - the Alpine upgraded stereo with navigation for $1129
3 - the Scion stereo/navigation system with 7" screen for $1999

Can someone with any of the above systems weigh in on how they like theirs? Thanks!

For a cool grand, you could have a top of the line double DIN navigation setup that has more bells and whistles than you'll ever be able to touch or put your mouth on.

I.e.: Alpine INA-W900, Kenwood DNX9960, or the Pioneer AVIC-Z130BT. Those are all a little over a grand.

At the risk of repeating everyone else; aftermarket! The OEM upgrades are overpriced, under featured and generally awful. Aftermarket gives you a whole lot more choices at nearly half the price.

Generally, anything that the dealer adds on really adds on to your invoice's bottom line. Figure on average a dealer added option is 50% - 75% more than aftermarket. That goes for tinting, detailing (the special "appearance package), alarms. And unless you have money to burn, don't get any service option; you'll rarely use it of anything big and they are great money makers for the dealer.

The only problem with aftermarket is if anything electrical goes wrong, you've just given them an easy way to deny electrical related warranty work.

The Alpine is ok but definitely not worththe money they want for it... Definitely go aftermarket. Mine came with the Alpine as a bonus from my dealer and, no offense to those who have it and like it, it sucks compared to a decent aftermarket unit. Everything is touch screen or button operated. As everything else that tries to be universal, you can do both but neither very well.

Spend $400 on the top of the line Pioneer 2 Din 7" screen (P4300DVD) and you'll be MUCH happier. You can still keep steering wheel controls with an adapter.

Stick with the base pioneer. Save your money.

I've had aftermarket radios my ENTIRE life in EVERY car I've ever owned and I've NEVER EVER EVER had any electrical issues from the head unit. Just don't get some cheap white box made in china brand like "Halpine", "Somy" or "Bioneer" and you'll be ok.

Mine came with the Alpine with the rear outputs and the HD radio. I plan on upgrading later but, for now, I am happy with it. If you have the cash, aftermarket is better. I went to the dealer and they quoted me a price on one that they were going to dealer trade from another dealer. After I was quoted the price, they found out that that one had been damaged on the lot. They found me another white five speed and gave it to me at the same price, even though it had upgraded radio and window tint. Works out for me because I don't have money right now for a new radio.
