Anyone ever overrevved their 1nz? Like, really bad? Somehow I managed to hit 2n gear instead of 4th and it sung a note I'd never heard before. Since the tach only goes to 7k, I really don't know how high it got, but it was higher than that. Now it will barly run at an idle. I had a set of plugs that I threw in and it didnt make a difference. Checked injectors: good. Checked valve springs: good. It's down to either piston rings or head gasket...

check around google to see if its a non-interference head. If it IS a non interference head, you're ok.
It could also be your valves themselves....that's usually what gets damaged in an over-rev.

Yea, that was another thought of mine

well, I've found lots of posts from people SAYING its a non-interference...but no real data to back it up.

If you floated the valves then the intake ones may got bent. Need to do compression or even better the cylinder leakdown test. Did you check the manifold vacuum?

I plan on doing the compression test when I get off work. I ran out of daylight and energy yesterday. It's more than likely bent valves. When I pull the injector or spark plug off the #3 cyl, it makes no difference in how it idles. And very little difference on the #2 cyl

That's odd, what was your sPeed?
I've gone from 107 into second rather than fourth on a gm vehicle before with zero damage, and my box motor has taken twice the punishment that motor ever did.
