I went to the Toyota dealership in Valencia where i bought the car. I asked about the TRD springs for the XB and the price is around $180. I jokingly asked about the install price, the reply surprized me. they quoted me $160 for install.

I thought that was a good install price especially from a dealer. I know I can probably do the install myself especially since the Guide offered on this site but i was thinking maybe i should just let them install the springs.

So, what do you guys think. My friend has air tools so the install would be fairly easy... ???

also, side question... I have 17's with yoko es100's 215/45/17. I know these are not the correct size for the XB, (they were from my civic) but is there a chance they will rub? I doubt it but just asking.

no rubbing you will be OK.

it's kind of an idiot proof install if you're at all handy with tools. $160 is ok I suppose if you just don't want to do it. It'll only take them 20, 30 minutes in and out.

Actually, 215/45/17 are VERY close to stock. You should be good to go if your offset is sufficient to clear the rear twist beam.

i'm with maxsin, i'm debating about installing myself and going to a dealer.

i have 1 other question tho, would installing them yourself effect any warranty compared to the dealer installing them?

they would have to prove that your install is what caused any future problem you're looking to have covered under the warranty...One thing to think about though - if you're just installing springs and keeping the stock shocks/struts, a LOT of people report that your shocks will blow out after 12k miles or so or somewhere there abouts. If you're car is brand new you should be covered for those parts through the 36k miles of the warranty, BUT if you do the install on the springs yourself, you give your dealer the potential defense to to say that it was your fault. They may not - they may just take care of it without any questions asked. But, in my opinion you're putting the potential for a problem out there by doing it yourself. I'm sure others will disagree. Personally, I got the TRD shocks/struts as well as the TRD springs and had them installed by the dealer when I got my xB, just to be safe - it was about $900 total for parts/labor and I just tacked in on to my financing. Besides rims/tires its the only real mechanical mod I'm going to do the the car so I just figured I'd rather be safe than sorry if something should go wrong.

This issue has been discussed at length many times before and I'm sure you'll find an exhaustive list if you search. Hope this helps.

I'm running the same tire size on TRD springs with no rubbing - however the offset of my rims is the same as stock. I cant say you wouldn't have rubbing if your running a higher offset wheel.

I did mine myself using the instructions on here and found the rear very easy. The front took longer cause I had to remove the windsheild washer motor and screws to get access to the strut bolts. Other than that its pretty straight forward. Mine took longer cause I didn't have air tools.

I took my car to the dealer for the alignment, which costed me 70 bucks.
