high rpms on the highway... is it ok??
so i got my 05 xa a week ago today with 121k on it. drove it 600 miles over the weekend to test it out.
I am NOT used to the HIGH rpms on the highway. With minimal traffic I drive just under 80mph and as you all know the engine revs at a good 4k! My last car was a 94 accord and at the same speed revd about 3k rpms. So i'm trying to get used to the noise but i feel as if i'm straining the engine at these high rpms.... makes me want to slow down.
is it ok to drive at 4k on the highway for a long time???
does the gas mileage change significantly at high rpms??
am I straining the engine by going 80 mph???
just want some feedback...
thanks

the 55 MPH things was for older cars from the 60's and 70's newer cars are made more efficient and vary depending on make but you actually get better MPG at around 65 MPH with newer cars. RPM play a factor too so does size and aerodynamics. cause say your car takes 20HP to get up to 55 it may take 100HP to get to 100 MPH.
But my tC runs at higher RPM than most cars it's size and I still get about 32 MPG on highways.
