Here are some photoshopped pics of what my RS 2.0 is going to look like when it arrives. What do you think of the graphics. This is just a quick shot of what we are doing just to get an idea. It still needs some other graphics added. What do you think (be nice this just a quick photochop)? Any ideas? Keep in mind this is a promo car for my skate shop.

We're also going to put the different company graphics (brands we sell) down the front doors and along the bottom like sponsor graphics would be.

This is what I've also either already bought or is on the way for the box:
blue cathodes for under the hood
goldline springs
5zigen FN01R-C wheels in black with polished lip
scion floor mats
factory fog lights
cargo cover
silverstars
fiberglass speaker box matching the solar yellow
(need to find a good deal on blue cathodes for inside)

Maybe not the unknown dude flying on the back~ People might mistake you for reversing someone over.. :P j/k

A skateboard or some other graphic would look better in the back imo.

I understand that you want it to "stand out" and get attention, but you can do that without clashing like crazy on the colors. Make everything that's blue right now red or orange and consider changing the photo of the ollieing guy to a silhouette or line drawing.

The car's already loud, you don't have to do very much more to get the attention of the people you're trying to target.

I am considering going with a silhouette on the back rather than a full color pic. The full pic might be a bit too much (color).
As for colors I want to stick with some blue as I'm going with blue lighting inside and out. I like the blue and yellow contrast.
Thanks for the post... Glad I found this forum...

I like the blue, but I agree with the siloutte suggestion.
I like the idea of putting stickers on like sponsors too.
I would shave the rear deck before I put the graphic on and definately go to www.randode.com for your cathodes.

Oh yeah... I forgot to mention I'm shaving everything on the back deck. Wiper and emblems are both going.

I'm going to try to get a mock up of the silohuette done this week.

If you need help shoot me a pm and I will be glad to give any help needed. I agree to keep the color spectrum together...looks a lot cleaner. Also do an outline of the skater will look good!

I would keep the lettering for the shop name, address, and phone number within the window. The window will contrast with the body color and act like a border for it.

If you're leaving the license plate in the middle, then I'd make the "boards, shoes, apparel" a little thinner, but if you're shaving the whole rear, another alternative is making your shop name take up the entire rear window, having the address and phone number in black... either in the middle where the license plate would be or slightly to the left overlapping the skater.

Btw, I don't think the 5zigen FNR01-C are available from 5zigen in black with a polished lip... are you having the lips custom polished?

The 5zigens are supposed to available soon. My 2.0 hasn't shown up yet so I'm hoping the wheels will be available when it finally gets here. If they aren't available I'm probably going to go with the matte black and get the edges polished. I have a friend that has done it numerous times (usually on sportbikes) but it won't be a problem.

The license plate is staying, but I'm probably going to change around the back from the first mock up. Thanks everyone for your input. Any other suggestions welcomed.

Those wheels are the hotness. Will look good with the yellow.

Do you know the kid that's ollieing? I think it looks cool. I agree that the spacing should be kept on the window. If that's not a local kid or someone you know, you can save a lot of cash by going with the siloutte.

Do you sell Fly Paper or that new foam stuff people are putting on their long boards?

I like the Idea. If you are spending the money to Shave the rear why not have them shave the entire rear and add a bodykit with a rear plate in the bumper ( a la KenStyle Urban Bodykit) I think the lettering shouldn't be at an angle but thats just me i think

i used to own a skate shop as well, so i know as well as you do that we skaters are some of the most critical people around. With that in mind, i will say that the design is ok. It looks a little too much west coast, and a little too busy with graphics/info on the rear, in my opinion. who has time to read that much info, unless their at a red-light? as far as appeal and eye-catching quality are concerned, tip-top.

hope this helps.

As an advertising guy, I would say there's too much info on the back. Where am I supposed to look first? What's the main message? None of it stands out so there's little chance any of it will be remembered. I think phone and URL are enough for interested people. Also, the shadows and shading just make the type harder to read.

Also, I think the skater would make a cooler image on the sides. You could even turn him sideways for a more radical move. Maybe a skater on one side and a snowboarder on the other, unless you're going to change them out with the seasons.

Just my thoughts.

Wow, I'm glad I put this on here before I started lettering up the box.

I want to keep the skater image on the rear. The sides I want to look more like a tuner car (witht the sponsor/brand logos and such). My first idea was to have a snowboarder on one side and a skater on the other, but I didn't like how it looked down the sides.

As for the back, I'm starting to agree that there is a bit too much going on. I think with the next photshop I'll make the TOTALLY BOARDZ bigger and get rid of the Boards, Shoes, etc... Maybe changed it around a bit more on the back.

Thanks again for the great insight and opinions.

How 'bout a Birdhouse board for my 6 year old?... his BDay is Friday and T.H.U.G. is his fav PS2 game. :) :) :)

Anyway, I think the graphics on the side looks good, and I woould probably lose the text you have in blue now as it seems to clutter, and most people would expect a board shop to have the "standard" boarding equipment.

Good luck with it, and put up some photos when you get it done.

Before I comment further I guess I should ask what your actual intention is -- primarily advertising, or primarily decorating your ride? Because one would shape the choices you make.

totallyboardz
03-16-2005, 01:13 AM
BOTH... I know that makes it difficult. I want it to look like a tuner car yet still get the promotion I need for the shop. Thats why I'm primarily going with the big graphic stuff on the back. I wish I had some photo shop images of what the sponsor graphics will look like on the side. It'll be all the product brands we sell, but all the same color and put down the door and along the side skirts if you know what I mean.
