got these bad boys in on thursday, and put em up last night.
did install myself, first time doing any suspension work, but got it done in roughly 3-4 hours with hand tools and no lift. only because i was back and forth watching the install video made by papa bear!! woulda been lost without that, lol
before pics (i know not same angles as after pics, but oh well)

i dont know, but i love it!
found out today, driving in dallas at 70+ with the heavy winds we have, the driver wheel liner flexes enough to rub on my tire. once i get to 60 its no problem, but its kinda ___. damn winds!!!

anyone else with s techs or anyone with experience lowering cars, i could really use your help
just noticed yesterday, but when driving, i hear random weird noises. like a creaking type sound. starting more recently, tonight, i hear it nonstop when rolling at idle from a dead stop, almost like somethings rubbing but a creaking type sound. as soon as i hit the gas, its gone, then when i let off gas its back
any1 have an idea what this could be? the rubbing idea came into my head because sound stop when i hit the gas, and when i hit the gas the weight is transferred to back and isnt putting as much on those front springs, and then when i let off gas, that weight goes back to front, and sound starts again
freaking out a bit, cuz my car has 2000 miles on it and i dont want it to break yet! lol

Sounds like you have the springs clocked wrong. The front support sub-assembly has to be put back on the say way it came off but it fits all sorts of different ways. If you mess it up, you're putting extra load on the bearings in there, thus the creaking sound. Replacement cost is about $115 per sub-assembly if that's the case. I only know this because I managed to do the same thing.

i know nothing about this kinda stuff (tackled the project because its a bunch of bolts, and i do interior stuff for a living, figured id be alright)
could you go into a little bit more detail about what you mean? as far as what clocking is, what the front sub assembly is, and is that 115 an installed price, or is to buy it and my chance another ____ up?

Its still safe to druve and remember, I'm just guessing. Saw this on my phone as I am crawling in bed, so I'll answer the rest tomorrow if someone doesn't beat me to it.

is earlier i looked at the strut towers under the hood, and could def tell the passenger one was wrong. blue dot on that one is pointed towards engine. blue dot on the driver one is facing back, a little to the inside. but the passenger one is def f*d. thats where im hearing my noise from

In good with service guy at the dealership and he's swapping both struts and everything associated for free under warranty.

s techs look good, would you say the car is even in height (front/rear)? After looking at pics I'm sorta debating between these and eibach sportlines
goose_119
04-15-2011, 11:27 PM
It was like dead on even, right now front is a tad lower, but I don't know if that's cuz it settled or if its because my suspension is messed up

Looks good. I'm going to do S-techs now after seeing your results... only thing that would make it better is to use spacers or some new wheels with a different offset get the wheels more flush...

i been debating on dropping my car .. im defantly gonna do s-techs that a nice aggresive drop it gave you .. but does it mess up warranty?

Nope.

Nope.
I told the sales team right off the bat (When I bought the car), I was going to mod the crap out of it. He said as long as the aftermarket part doesn't cause damage to the car, then you're all good.

Is there any rubbing with the s tech's with stock rims and tires?
goose_119
06-15-2011, 04:10 AM
i have no issues at all with this drop. drives great, no rubbing. once i tear up these tires im going with some 19's and wider rims to make it flush

Anyone here having noise after installing their Stech ?
goose_119
06-15-2011, 09:10 PM
Go into your dealer now and have them make sure your struts are cocked correctly. Did mine wrong, along with a lot of people here, and you have to replace your strut towers if installed wrong and driven on too much

How long did it take yours' to make noise goose119? I have about 100 miles on them since I put mine on, no noise yet. i know I made the same mistake a lot of people have. I just put the new springs in the marks that the old springs made on the rubber silencers. THEN I read the TRD instructions the next day. I got so caught up in worrying about the blue dots and not the actual clocking of the springs. I made sure nothing moved on the struts and I put the springs in exactly how the factory had them. So I may be ok, might not. I know my passenger side strut spring is within 30 degrees of the wheel. Not sure about driver side. The back, we just threw them in. I know I need to reposition the rears.
Point is everyone who does not already know spring clocking, needs to read the trd instructions regardless of the brand you purchase.

What gives you more of a drop the tein s techs or the eibach sportline ?
OldBox

The numbers I have are:
Eibach Sportline 1.7F/2.3R
Tein S-Techs 1.5F/1.8R

But it says 1.3 an 1.5 for eibach on there website
Yeah,I guess it depends what web site you look at.

So for those of us planning on doing the install, what precautions can we take to be sure that we don't reinstall everything crooked? Because it looks amazing, but the fear of doing that to a brand new car is a little scary.

from what others are saying, look up trd lowering spring installation instructions and read carefully and do exactly what it says

Like the Papa Bear video? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QfHsHj3C0zk
Along with the hints provided by Wellesley on the second page of the install video link thread: http://www.scionlife.com/forums/showthread.php?t=198824&page=2 ? Hopefully this helps somewhere along the line to cross-reference the hints.

So only mods to suspension the warranty will stay active?
