I like 9 & 10 best. I'm thinking about going with carbon for mine, or possibly silver...but definitely not chrome. Something with a deep lip looks best IMO. Whatever your choice, it's still gonna look HOT on the Lava RS1 :)

I really appreciate your feedback so far, please keep the opinions flowing !!
Being these are going to mount on the LAVA, I need something that really is different, and also try to hide the brake drums and also front calibers if possible ....
Thanks again for all the feedback so far and Thanks To Those Who Will leave their opinions .....

In the end, it really boils down to which ones you like better. I kind of like 4 myself, but I'm not excessively into chrome. It'd look nice with the Lava though.

IMO..
i only run these polls to see what everyone else would like to see, then ill change it up and flip something that no one voted on.. With that said i would rock anyone of those rims EXCEPT for 1 & 7.. Those are just not my style. But as I said before. Be original and thank yourself later.

Rim Size: 17x7.5 Tire Size: 215/40/17
imo i think any of those rims, in chrome, in that size would look like assss.
 look at it this way, you have a special car (hot lava) imo you cant just slap on some rims that fit. imo if you put any of those wheels on the hot lava it wouldn't do it justice. just my opinion though

Hmmm - I agree with you on the unique Lava and your right about just slapping some rims and tires on the car ..... What do you suggest ? I do not want to make a mistake when doing this, the Lava RS1 in my opinion is the cornerstone right now for Scion, it will be a moving billboard so to speak .... I want it to be really showcased if that makes sense ... Any feedback you can offer will be GREATLY APPRECIATED ...

#10 gets my vote, but i gave up on Chrome awhile back, too hard to keep clean and all. Besides, you want a wheel to compliment the RS1, not take away from it.
Keep looking, when you find the "right" wheel, you gut will tell you.

Thanks everyone so far ...... Anyone else who would like to leave an opinion, please do ...... This is a tough decision !
I know CB - I am trying to go for the overall package, some shiny rims to enhance the sparkle of the metaflake in the orange paint ...... Also some outrageous airbrush work will probably done on her .......

I guess 9 or 10 if I have to pick out of those. Chrome wheels just aren't my deal either. If you want something to really standout then instead of chrome maybe you should think about some high end wheels like some Volks, ect. The only reason that I picked 9 and 10 is because they are a bit like tuner style wheels but in chrome. The XB just isn't an SUV to me so it doesn't seem right to have bling bling wheels on it. However, I'm sure there are some chrome wheels out there that would look great on it, just not really any of those I don't think.
btw- I'm looking into getting a hot lava also so I've been really thinking about wheels for that color. Chrome would definitely stand out but I have in mind gunmetal type color or silver as well.

I really don't like any of those. Since we have different taste, you probably won't like my choices either, but here goes - I'll try to keep them a little bling bling:

I do like the Velox, 2nd one down ! Almost has the shine as chrome - Question, I see 5 bolts, do they come with the 4 bolt pattern ?
EL_PAALO
02-12-2004, 06:01 PM
It's a machined finish (with a clearcoat, I think).
They do offer 4x100, but I just realized they wheel is only available in 19" so far (fairly new wheel).
Check out the Volk GT-P - the one velox copied, but it's six spoke and available in many more sizes.
http://www.rdmwheels.com/volk/gtpsilv.jpg
There are alot of companies using a "super metal coat" or some other company lingo for a paint that looks like chrome - bling bling without the weight that jacks acceleration, brakes, and steering. SSR is a company using it that comes to mind. Of course, polished wheels also have a nice shine - I prefer them clearcoated for easy cleaning/maintenance, but then there's likelihood of the clearcoat getting damaged on wheel/tire mounting equipment.
SSR Professor SP1 (SBC - super black coat - a darker variant on chrome paint - changes a little depending on lighting conditions)
http://image.www.rakuten.co.jp/car-wheel/img1063618830.jpeg
Here's SSR's site so you can get a better idea of the nicer paint finishes available. They have some nice VIP wheels if you want to stick with a style that's more like your original choices too.

Work:

Rays (brands listed along the left):
http://www.rayswheels.co.jp/emenu/wheel.html
Advan (Yokohama):
http://www.yokohamatire.jp/yrc/japan/wheel/index.jsp
Speedstar (SSR), Work, Rays Engineering (Volk and other brands), and Advan are probably the most commonly highly regarded japanese wheel manufacturers. Not saying that you need to go with one of those, but the higher price is because they are typically higher quality and lower weight. I think all four also offer custom finishes from the factory.

Konig just released painted wheels that almost match the RS V1 xB
Fabulous is nearly $1k per rim.
I'd go with HRE at those prices.

Being I got some awesome feedback and I really appreciate it, I am really leaning toward these rims .... I had a friend of mine who is a graphic artist, take the images of the rims and impose them onto the HOT LAVA and they look sharp ... Show of class !
What do you think out of these would be best suited ?? Thanks
#2
It looks better and doesn't have a large plastic centercap - you'll always end up cracking one, the chrome paint will crack off it, you'll lose the tool, or lose an allen screw.
House_Of_Steel
02-14-2004, 11:48 AM
Thanks EL ..... I like both the 2nd and 1st wheel - I did not know the center was plastic, that sux .....
I wish tire rack had them so I could see what they look lie in 17's ..... Oh well, will have to try photoshop ......Errrr !
I feel like a child in a candy store or toy store, with so much out theser to pick from, just kills me

If you end up getting one with a centercap that covers the lugs, take them off yourself before rotations/balances because other people are more likely to break, scratch, or lose them. Nobody cares about your wheels like you.
You might also want to get an extra centercap when you order the wheels. That way you've got one just in case of the above or when the wheels are discontinued.

Ok... for the 2nd set ... I really like the 3rd chrome option ... not a whole lot to it so you might want to go with a big break kit as well (only downfall) ... option 2 would look damn good with the lava I think
House_Of_Steel
02-15-2004, 01:09 PM
Thanks for the tip and feedback - I am leaning toward either 1 or 2 .... I think !
Not sure on chrome, but maybe a nice polished aluminum if it is available .....
#1 would hide the lugs and also the bulk of the brake drum and front caliber and thus save a few dollars instead of having them powder coated to match the car ... Hmm ..
Alter_Ego
02-22-2004, 11:51 PM
1 or 2 are the best out of them I think. #4 needs to be deleted so noone has to look at it anymore
Then go over 4 times on the wheel selector and choose the Kosei K1 TS in orange. They are super lightweight (10.6lbs. ) and they are cheap (149$).
Who cares if they are not chrome or 17" they would look pimp with some 205/55-15 or some 215/50-15

I am going nuts with selecting rims for my HOT LAVA, it is a very tough decision and needs to be the right choice for this ride. I seen that #1 has been released and I am leaning toward a highly polished rim, not so much chrome ...

Hey Gulp ....... The orange rims are great, but I want to lean in a different direction if that makes sense / what I have planned is, for the door sill guards and the rear bumper top is have it made from a thin diamond plate, wanted to keep the rims on those lines / If you had to choose, what would you consider ?

Beware of the ADR's espically if you get them in chrome. ADR's are known for chipping and peeling.
Holy crap on a stick! >HAHAHAHA< I love the way those are blatant rip off of Bersaglio wheels! (And geesh, you can totally see the lack of quality in the casting and finish in the fakies.)
I just took these pics last night, too!

Don't worry that's not the first rip off and won't be the last. Half the market now is just making a cheaper version of the really expensive rims.

For sure, the mainstream, average US consumer is what fuels the fakie market unfortunately. I was just surprised that someone knocked off the Bersaglio Unforgettable Spoke though, because it's really an obscure VIP wheel that's not too well known. It's usually all about knocking off the commonplace Racing Harts and Volk Racings, etc...

IMO the Hot Lava color just screams for attention. Throw in some really blingy chrome wheels and they'll be competing for attention, sort of a nasty sibling rivalry thing. I'd lean toward a quiet finish like anthracite or gunmetal. If not I'd say #6 or #8.

1,3,7 from the first list and 3 and 4 from your second list. With an orange car you dont want to go with an average rim. The rims i picked from the lists were something different you dont see everyday and they had really good designs that will reflect a lot of lite. But what do i know i dont even have one yet so "there.....you......go"

Van, i want your carpets in my rs1.0 i think they look dope as $hit. i bet they are comfee when you be shagging on the shag.
anyway about the wheels, what kinda look are you going for (lip, no lip, offset, 16,17,18,19,20's, how wide, cost, design) if you really think about my questions, it will narrow your choices down a lot. i agree with alota people when they say the rs1 deserves something unique, but not something flashy that takes away from the hotlava color. simple design has always been my fav. a wheel that is imported would not be a bad way to go ( see Scionvan he knows his $hit) b/c they offer wheels in dif. sizes, offsets and they are harder to get than the average wheels that you see on every other car.
as i sad above see Van about wheels he has mad knowledge of dif. wheels and can get you what you will like and what will fit. thats most important.

Thanks Guys and NC - The rim size would be a 17x7.5 / tire size would either be 215/40/17 or 215/45/17 - I really don't want to lower the box, but what I want is a flush look witht he body .... Nothing that sticks out !
I was just near your dealership last week on my way to Calabash, was going to stop in and say HELLO, but it was about 6:30AM ...... Your on thhe corner down there, right ?
I do want a lip on the rim, something unique, not the standard run of the house rim with spokes but something you will notice and then catch the orange color as well. I hope that makes sense ....

personally I like these
To me thay have the "coulda/shoulda been stock" look, and a nice balance of straight and curved lines
They are also available in chrome and are relatively reasonably priced.
