View Full Version : Another new car?!
Enzie 04-13-2011, 08:02 PM Now along with the FT-86, there is this!!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wsitn16R2wE
So many cool new things coming in the future :D
Btw, anyone know the song? lol
urblgd 04-13-2011, 08:19 PM I think that just is the FT-86 badged as a Scion, sweet looking car regardless, can't wait to see the reveal.
biglilsteve 04-13-2011, 08:31 PM I'm going to be pretty depressed as a tC owner if this is the next Scion.
Enzie 04-13-2011, 08:36 PM I'm going to be pretty depressed as a tC owner if this is the next Scion.
That's exactly what i was thinking, but it's a concept, so it wont be here for awhile!
WellesleyScion 04-13-2011, 09:43 PM That is the FR-S, yes it will be unveiled at the NYIAS... or you could see it here(yes it does have the toyota badges on it, but this is the same car):

Interesting
biglilsteve 04-13-2011, 11:11 PM Now if that comparison is accurate, I'd feel slightly less depressed as I would never fit into that.
RevolutionAutomotive 04-14-2011, 12:35 AM Uh.. Looks like a smoothed out Genesis..
MightyP 04-14-2011, 12:57 AM Hell, I really like the Genesis. Looks like virtually no backseat. Then again, maybe I just make my wife take the kid places. :)
i see the backend and i think rx-7, side i think genesis
XerotC 04-14-2011, 01:49 AM is it a 2 seater or 4?
EDIT: guess mightyP kinda touched upon that.
i know this car was in Geneva, but was the interior ever shown? if its a 2 seater, it make sense that it will be smaller than the tc.
2009xbtx 04-14-2011, 02:02 AM man the body lines look like a lotus
Enzie 04-14-2011, 02:06 AM I think it looks like a baby ft-86 concept II?!?!
2009xbtx 04-14-2011, 02:08 AM is there any word on what motor yet?
XerotC 04-14-2011, 02:11 AM no specifics but its a 2.0 (around that range)boxer motor
WellesleyScion 04-14-2011, 02:12 AM I think it looks like a baby ft-86 concept II?!?!
That is the ft-86 concept II.
WellesleyScion 04-14-2011, 02:13 AM no specifics but its a 2.0 (around that range)boxer motor
2.5L Boxer
2009xbtx 04-14-2011, 02:17 AM cool should be fun to drive if it dosent weight to much
XerotC 04-14-2011, 02:18 AM i think theres some confusion going on.
though it went though many revisions, this(the car in this teaser video) is the same toyota/subaru car that was talked about years ago.
so the FT-86 and FT-S, when it goes into production, will be the same car. the only other version will be the one by subaru. toyota/scion is releasing(hopefully) one car or some variation of these two(three? four?) concepts.
XerotC 04-14-2011, 02:19 AM 2.5L Boxer
wow, it got bigger. i remember when this was still first being talked about that it was going to be 1.8-2.0
Russell11 04-14-2011, 03:41 AM That's exactly what i was thinking, but it's a concept, so it wont be here for awhile!
The production version will be revealed at the 2011 Tokyo Motor show in december.. Toyota and Subaru been working on this car for aaaaaaaaa long time haha. I think Toyota is making it a scion is because this is the car Scion needs so badly.. Subaru also making their own version of the car.
krytikel 04-14-2011, 01:54 PM Man, I dont believe it. I just bought a 2011 because Iwaited so long for the FT-86 I gave up on it and now this . Its ok lol, I love my TC hehe 8). Does anybody know if its gonna be turbo or N/A? At 200, I'm guessing N/A?
Enzie 04-14-2011, 01:55 PM I read that a N/A version would be about 20k while a turbo version would be around 30k
XerotC 04-14-2011, 03:14 PM think it will cost around 24k starting
donsun 04-14-2011, 04:32 PM ^sounds reasonable. priced competitively with hyundai's genesis 2.0T

It also has been named the FR-S and the FT-86 Concept II, amongst the names you have listed.

I just spoke to our rep a few minutes ago and he said that the vehicle being shown at the NYIAS will be about 90% production ready.

N/A

I heard $22K pure priced.
donsun 04-14-2011, 08:27 PM ^ if it is 22k pure priced, i know what i'm probably gonna upgrade to after graduation. or if subaru gets around to announcing an awd, i'll prob hop over there
WellesleyScion 04-14-2011, 08:43 PM From what I hear, the subie version will be available in Europe only.
1stOne 04-15-2011, 02:59 AM From what I hear, the subie version will be available in Europe only.
And it wont be AWD from what I've heard. Which is why Subaru is not making much noise about it as it disrupts the image they have portrayed for years about AWD.
I'll have my order in very soon...Can't wait!

Wow no AWD is suprising for a subaru lol..

Thanks!
Enzie 04-20-2011, 06:44 PM Here's the follow up video everyone, i think it looks pretty good.. Mostly because i was hoping it wouldnt look exactly like the Toyota FT-86 concept II

m0ej0e 04-21-2011, 12:20 AM Hmm if this gets launched under scion I wonder how badly the TC will hurt. From what I have seen the TC isn't selling the greatest in the first place.
KidJustin 04-21-2011, 12:58 AM my service guy at the dealership first told me he wanted to trade in his xB for the tC2 like mine
then today when i got my next service...he said he is waiting for this one now instead of the tC2...he says it "might" come out in another year or so
Hmm if this gets launched under scion I wonder how badly the TC will hurt. From what I have seen the TC isn't selling the greatest in the first place.
I agree.
I hardly ever see tC2 around here.
I think I saw only about 5 since the launch. That's about once a month, I see it.
It will be even rarer once FR-S comes out as Scion.
But I definitely don't mind driving a rare car
Enzie 04-21-2011, 03:35 AM ^^ Agreed!
donsun 04-21-2011, 03:41 AM doesn't look like scion is making any new cars easy to debadge...
XerotC 04-21-2011, 04:31 AM doesn't look like scion is making any new cars easy to debadge...
Scion: Oh sure, you can customize our cars, just customize them the way WE want you to customize them.
dropzone 04-21-2011, 05:18 AM I think a Toyota badge would look so much better on it. I still have a long ways to go on paying off my tC so it'll be a while before I get a chance to get me the FT-86.
m0ej0e 04-21-2011, 04:47 PM At least there will be more Scions on the road. The dealer I bought my car from said they are selling really slow. I got an ok deal on my car, but I also have 4 free oil changes. Rare cares can be good, just sucks when the parts are rare too. Also I am in Ontario so it is still a new brand.
Enzie 04-21-2011, 11:05 PM Heres a video i found of an actual real car :D!!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r6P6--SyjRE&feature=related
Blackedout011TC 04-22-2011, 12:43 AM I'd trade my Tc in a heart beat for that!!
axesd 04-26-2011, 07:57 AM And it wont be AWD from what I've heard. Which is why Subaru is not making much noise about it as it disrupts the image they have portrayed for years about AWD.
I'll have my order in very soon...Can't wait!
What a guy. Guess its good to work at the corporate.
I heard $22K pure priced.
22K+tax and destination fee= at25K. Definitely a good pick. Honesty, the car gives me a Genesis (rear)+ Forta koup(door+ wheel) feel...imo...and maybe a weird one
sneakyburrito 04-26-2011, 10:45 PM i cant wait to trade my car in for this one.

Haven't they said it will be a 2+2 from the start? Isn't that like complaining that a 4-door sedan doesn't have a third row, or that RWD car has a large transmission tunnel? :icon_razz:
Hmm if this gets launched under scion I wonder how badly the TC will hurt. From what I have seen the TC isn't selling the greatest in the first place.
Sales have apparently been a success for the tC2:
From TruckTrend (http://www.trucktrend.com/features/news/2011/163_news110404_nissan_honda_toyota_sales/index.html)
"Toyota
Toyota didn't fare as well, with overall sales slipping 10.1 percent from 2010 to 155,540 units. The Camry and Corolla sedans continued to lead the brand's figures, despite overall declines - Camry sales fell 16.4 percent to 31,464 cars, and Corolla sales dropped 1.7 percent to 30,234. The ever-popular RAV4 saw a 39.9-percent year-over-year decrease, accounting for 16,083 vehicle sales, while the Prius hybrid enjoyed a 52-percent sales jump, with 18,605 cars leaving showrooms in March.
Lexus sales took a smaller hit, dropping 1.5 percent year-over-year to 20,682. The hottest seller was the ES sedan, dropping 6.9 percent to 3732 units sold, while the IS sedans saw 2956 monthly sales in spite of a 9.3-percent year-over-year decline. Lexus's new CT200h compact hybrid moved 2199 cars during its first month on sale.
Scion was the only Toyota division to see sales gains, finishing March with 5540 sales, an increase of 57.8 percent. The charge was led by the new Scion tC, with 2841 sales representing a jump of 113.7 percent over March 2010. The xB climbed 16.4 percent, to 1970 cars, and the xD gained 37.4 percent to sell 1089"
I didn't see any for the first three weeks I had mine (bought beginning of March). They seem to be cropping up here and there now, but I have yet to see another manual.
This will be a good halo car for Scion. Currently it's an econobox that has fallen way behind in the class, a boxy crossoverish thing that seems to appeal mainly to aging boomers, and a modern version of an Accord liftback.
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/7/72/Honda_Accord_hatch_front.jpg/250px-Honda_Accord_hatch_front.jpg
(That was always my favorite Accord, so that's probably why the tC appealed to me right off the bat, though the tC is a larger, much heavier car)
Enzie 05-05-2011, 08:51 PM Here you go everyone! Another link to interesting info!
I'm definately trading in my tC for a Manual version of one of those asap... lol

Steven7Ray 05-17-2011, 11:09 PM Can't wait to get this car!! ima trade in my 2011 tc for this! i heard it will come out in 2012. anyone know the price i heard on 25??

If they're gonna try to sell it for $25K, it better have some serious muscle to back it up. And naturally aspirated 2.0L doesn't sound promising.
$22,300 gets you into a Mustang with a 305hp V6. $24,600 for a Challenger with similar power. $22,250 for a Genesis Coupe.
For lower, say, $21-22K, it might be a decent seller.
Enzie 05-17-2011, 11:30 PM As far as release date, I read that it's being released in Australia during the second half of 2012 or the beginning half of 2013.
But that's Australia, who knows about the US and other countries... There's supposed to be a model that's close to production ready at one of the big car shows sometime around October though.
Steven7Ray 05-18-2011, 12:24 AM well i cant wait for this car i hope its not too pricy. do u all think it will come with a turbo and at a price of 25 grand??
Enzie 05-18-2011, 12:39 AM I definitely think there's going to be a turbo. Id be surprised if there was no turbo option. And I read somewhere it would be near 30k for turbo, but that was months ago
Steven7Ray 05-18-2011, 01:48 AM if the turbo is gonna be 30 plus thats too much and i wont be getting it. if its with turbo around 25 i will
Enzie 05-18-2011, 02:12 AM Only time will tell.. It looks to be sooo promising though

Yes, and no idea on price.

Yes, but you wont have an accurate trade in number until like the week of pickup.
Steven7Ray 05-19-2011, 02:12 AM Wellesley Scion (http://www.wellesleyscion.com/) will i have to give something down if ima trade in my tc or they can just reserve mine if i go tomorrow??
VVTinme 05-19-2011, 02:21 AM It's simply nutty to trade in a 2011 tC for a 2012 FR-S. You'll be losing *a lot* of money in the process, especially as a trade.
Steven7Ray 05-19-2011, 03:15 AM i know i will be losing money but i really want that car. im paying 300 a month on my tc i dont mind paying 500 a month for the fr-s
