View Full Version : about 1.5 hr for maintenance??

so i called my car dealership to schedule my first oil change @ about 4300 miles... the person making my appoint was it'll take about 90 minutes, i'm like wTF?? it's an oil change! omg... shouldn't take more than 30 minutes.. i really hope i don't have to sitting there for 1.5 hours... ends ranting... blah

That sounds about right. The service dept I go to here in Bayside New York routinely take 1.5 hrs to 2 hrs for an oil change. And that's with an appointment!

my shop has them every 1/2 hr on appt and i work at very busy dealer most toyota dealers have lube only techs that
make up their fast lube

You have to realize that they are including all time used. They have to get someone to drive your car in, put it on a lift, perform the oil change, set it back down. Start the car for a minute and then recheck oil (I hope they do this part!), pull the car back outside, print out paperwork and then let you go. So 1.5 hours isnt too bad. I would guess that it will take them less time. They are just making sure they dont promise 30 - 45 minutes and then not have it ready for you. Better to set the time longer and be early rather than set it earlier and be late.

yea sounds about right where i work if they give it to a regular tech then 1-1.5 sounds right (max time) but their system has it down to 30-40 min with our lube techs paperwork and all but every dealership is different

mine took about 35-45 minutes, without an appointment. though i've waited over an hour before
