Default Can someone please tell me if i need to ditch this stock 6disk changer hu

So im really fed up with only being able to use cds in this day in age
I have the stock 6 disk changer hu in my 04 xb and from what i read from searching it doesnt seem like its able to be compatable even with one of those doo-hickys they sell on ebay. Is there a way or should i just go after market? I dont mind this HU otherwise. It has no aux button.. but does have a sat button so idk if i can use that?

Also can i hook up a sub with this HU because im thinking of getting one of those while im at it
Any help will be greatly appreciated!

you can get an "ipod2car" that will hookup to the factory cd/acc plug harness on the back of your hu.. you need a 7$ extra harness, but it will work fine with your ipod.. charges it, plays it 100% clean, and you can use both the ipod and the hu to change tracks, ff, rw, and change playlists..
thats what i did anyway.. 5 min install, very easy - i think there is even a howto in the tech section

once installed, just hit "disk" to toggle between cd and ipod

btw, what are Cd's ?

Lol, cd stands for currently discontinued. Lol
But serioulsy thats awesome. I just read about them and it talks about how it plugs into the cd changer port... now since i have a internal one will that still work?

Lol, sweet! Hey well since we are on the subject and you have seen the back of the unit. Do you know if ours is able to connect to the factory bazooka sub? They sell a pnp harness im just wondering if it works with all scion HU's

I cant find the ipod2 thingy anywhere exept ebay so i guess ill get it there. The odd thing is is in big bold letter it says" if you have a built in cd changer this will not work with your car" but obviously thats not true since it works for you. Wonder why

yeah, bazooka works fine, the only reason they say "if you have a built in cd changer....
" is because most decks that have a built in changer dont have the plug in the back for an external changer, but we are all good

i got mine on ebay for about 90$ works perfectly, but i would set the dip switches according to the diy posted here, if you use the ipod2car recomended settings the volume will be low..

will the ipod2car work with an 05xb?? I have the single-disk hu. I am also thinking about getting the 6-disk changer the 06 xbs had; would the ipod2car work on that? thanks

ty0812 - answer to both yout questions - YES. both hu's use the same connection, ipod2car will work perfectly and flawlessly with both hu's..

make sure you specify when ordering 04-06 toyota/scion, you will need a $4 cable that the seller should offer to include..

also for all intersted, make sure to checkout the diy install listed on this site. the writer lists better jumper settings for louder audio...
