I'm starting to get small specks of rust forming on my DC headers. How should I get it off? If I sand it, will it remove any of the coating?

Are you serious??? How long have you had them? Damn mild steel headers!!! I think you could probably touch those spots up with a high temp paint...but it will void your warranty, I think they have a 1 year warranty though...

I've had them since the first week they were shipped out in December 2004. I just hope they don't become as rusted as the stock headers.

I'd reccomend to anyone getting headers to get them ceramic coated first. they'll never rust and the coating keeps the heat in and underhood temps lower.

I had it done on my WRX's uppipe and it was nice. Alot of subie guys get it done on headers, turbos, uppipes, downpipes, etc...

it doesn't cost that much either.

I hate to say it but its a DC header and you shouldnt expect anything less. Its normal for them to rust, youre lucky yours hasnt rusted more. DC will do nothing for you. Sorry.

Your best bet is to take it off, bead blast it clean and use VHT brand high temp paint (2000 deg) to coat it then bake it in the over for about an hour at over 350 degrees. That will last you a good three or four years before needing a reapplication.

If you are going to contact DC Sports, the fastest way to get an effective reply is to take pictures of the rusting areas. Emailing the pictures to them will give the DC tech support department an idea of what is going on...

why does everyone say "headerS"? it's a 4cyl, not a v6 or a v8, it only has 1 header.

also, megan non-rusting/cheaper header > dc header :)
