My friend wants to buy a Xb but can't find the crash test results. Does any one know what they are or if in the future they will have side airbags as a option.

go to www.wreckedscions.com. They hold up pretty good.

The xB has not been tested by the federal government or IIHS in this country yet. However you can tell you friend that it did very well in the Japanese NCAP crash tests, scoring 4 stars for driver and 5 stars for front passenger in the front collision tests and did well in side collisions as well, but the omission of side air bags does hurt it (as it does any car) Nearly any car with side airbags will do better than one without in side impact. The xB will be discontinued soon so forget about them phasing in SAB.

The xB (bB) stood up quite well. Compare it's results with other vehicles there - the videos are interesting.

to be honest with you...these tests seem more hardcore then the baby ones they do here. If i'm not wrong the feds only do the tests at 40mph

I have been looking for NHTSA crash test ratings myself recently and noticed that they haven't been tested over here in the U.S. That Japanese site is a good alternative. :)

Overall, the ist did even better in protecting the occupants than the bB did, and the bB did quite well...

Something called "t2B" which no one has seen yet. There are no pics out there because Scion is keeping it under wraps. It's going to be introduced at the New York Auto Show on the 24 though.

Just to update the information here, the English language version of the Japanese Government site linked to above has gone through some re-design, and things have been moved around.

The results are good but I still think a t-bone would crush the box like a tin can. I'll still drive my box anyway though!

what they need is off set side crashes also!!!

the tests probably wont be very good . I just totaled out my my special release #733 series 2 , with a 25mph crash to the front end. $11.000.00 in body damage, not to mention all motor mounts broken plus a cracked engine block and broken tranny case. Wont buy another one thats for sure.

The government required/suggested crash tests, and the ones run by the insurance companies don't really consider the survival of the vehicle, only the survival of the occupants.

How did those inside your xB fare?

(I remember well my wife flipping a new Volvo 142E off a freeway curve and down a 20 foot embankment 'at speed' where it landed on it's roof... The car was much the worse for the experience, but only minor bruising to both occupants from the three-point belts. We all figured the car did it's job. I still miss that car.)
