Default Exhaust for my XA

I put on a DC sports axel back exhaust on my xa in the last year, It sounds great, But im trying to get a little more power from my exhaust. I have been going back and forth of the idea of cutting the big resonator after the cat our and just putting straight pipe in for the section (i may put bigger pipe from cat all the way back to the axel, or just replace with OEM size pipe). Im pretty sure i could get some kind of hp gain and it would be louder, but Im worried about taking away too much back pressure therefor loosing power,
Has anyone done anything like this? or is it a good idea?

(Also im not sure if it would then pass emissions)

Thanks

PS.
4-2-1 style header system provides better low and mid range gains + cold air intake will provide some extra HP. ( + more racing decals on the car LOL). Good luck
