View Full Version : xB2 Ride Height
jnaval 05-13-2011, 04:24 AM Does anyone know at what lowered ride height becomes detrimental to the xB2's suspension geometry? And while we're at it, at what lowered ride height will the CV boots start to go out prematurely?
I'm gonna go ahead and assume that since TRD suspension parts are factory options, their specs are the maximums of the operating range?
Hannibal 05-13-2011, 11:13 AM I have been on Hotchkis springs for almost 2 years now and everything is still fine...FWIW
pyroman131 05-13-2011, 03:47 PM Anything that lowers the front past 1" and the rear up to 1.9" and below are generally "bad" for the suspension. Notice the quotes.
When I had Eibach Sportlinea, I didn't have any problems to my suspension. Just keep in mind that if you go lower than what the shocks and struts are certified for, then you could potentially wear out your suspension depending on how hard you drive.
If you upgrade your stock shocks to the TRD Struts and Shocks package, it's certified to accept the lowered TRD Springs but isn't certified for anything lower than that.
There's not too many people who have had any problems being lowered so you should be alright.
Anthony008 05-21-2011, 02:29 AM so what do you think about the pro kits that drop it 2.2 in trhe back?
CIONIDE 05-21-2011, 02:49 AM so what do you think about the pro kits that drop it 2.2 in the back?
The Pro-Kit drop is 1.0" front and 1.2" rear.
Do you mean the Sportlines that drop 1.2" front and 2.2" rear?
eight08customs 05-21-2011, 02:51 AM IM on air for the past 4 years.. no problems ..
the suspension moves up and down .. no matter what it will wear out sooner or later. IMO it dont cuase premature ware.. been on dropped cars all my life and i replaced so much more stock cars CV over the droped cars.
So i think its just the dealerships just trying to scare people.. of course any mod are no no comming from any dealership
eight08customs 05-21-2011, 02:52 AM TRD dont drop the car.. If your going to put TRD you might as well leave it stock.
CIONIDE 05-21-2011, 03:01 AM Not everybody can afford coilovers or airbags Marshall. IMHO any drop, even a mild one (as long as it is a quality brand), looks and handles better than OEM.
Just sayin'. :icon_biggrin:
jnaval 05-21-2011, 04:15 AM Thanks everyone, this info's real good. On that note, are there any other Tein coilovers for the xB2 besides the Basics?

No, and it took them 3 years after the xB2 was released to come out with those, so don't expect anything else.

i disagree, i ran TRDs on my 08 and noticed a big dif versus stock. TRDs are a very good choice for someone shy about dropping. however, for my 11, i just ordered dfs.
SamCarroll 05-23-2011, 06:10 PM I ordered TRDs through work because of my discount but i wish i went with dfs only because i want to be just a little bit lower. But theres nothing wrong with the TRDs.
pyroman131 05-26-2011, 06:06 AM I first ran Eibach Sportlines and then switched up to Tanabe NF210s. The ride was too jarring and uncomfortable being lowered on the Sportlines. I needed the comfort and the drop still looks really good. You can still tell it's lowered just by looking at it. And the gap still isn't that bad either.
jnaval 05-26-2011, 06:11 AM Will the OEM dampers wear out faster being on lowering springs? I assume they will. I know NF210s are nice, anyone experienced with HTechs?
Anthony008 05-30-2011, 03:50 PM what about a camber kit for the springs do we need them?
