So... who's done this and how big of a pain is it? After two turbos and a supercharger, the auto trans. is slipping, though there are no hard / missed shifts or anything. I have a spare auto trans. w/ 20k miles on it sitting in the garage for 3 years, I guess it's time to use it. Thinking it would be quicker than troubleshooting the other one anyway.
First, I have an engine lift but not a car lift, can it be pulled by jacking the front end up only? Can it be pulled without removing the engine? The way the service manual is written it looks like it can, using the engine lift to support the engine from having the rear and driver mount removed, but leaving the passenger mount in place.
Suggestions, please let me know.

Can't offer any advice there vettereddie, haven't had to do that to my '04 yet, touch wood. Supercharger sounds interesting. I've taken the trans out of a '95 prizm ('corolla), but don't know how much different it is with the xB.

Tranny can be pulled out without pulling the engine.
lift car to get tires and axels out , hold engine with a hoist, yank that sucker out just like a manual for changin out the clutch ( skate boards worked for me).
More to it than this , but you get the idea.
i haven't read of too many automatics go on the xb. how many miles does that transmission have?

60k miles on it or so. Don't forget, It was running a supercharger, then later a Greddy turbo putting down 135 whp, up from the stock 86 whp, and now a larger Garrett turbo. That's a significant load increase for the stock oil cooler, and the B&M wasn't added until a bit later.
Thanks frogbox, good to know it's doable w/out draining fluids (other than trans.) I'm fond of furniture dollies myself for rolling heavy stuff, worked great for engines.
60k miles with a supercharger! i know what you mean.
