View Full Version : Insurance Rates?
Jay82 02-09-2004, 07:15 PM What do most of you pay monthly for insurance on the xB and what companies are you with? I REALLY want to get the xB and I can afford the monthly car payments just fine but it looks like my car insurance is going to go up too much for me to be able to afford it
rbloedow 02-09-2004, 07:21 PM I'm under my parents policy, but listed as the only driver - Full coverage, 19 years old, no accident or tickets, driver training discount from back in 9th grade, and a good student discount for my grades in college, $1000 deductables on everything - I pay 120 a month.
Jay82 02-09-2004, 07:23 PM Who is that with?

USAA - you have to have to currently be in or retired from the military to get into USAA. Military dependants are also eligible for inclusion - I've also financed my car through them. Good rates if you can qualify.
Jay82 02-09-2004, 07:34 PM Oh okay.
I'm really bummed about this now cuz I was all amped up to go get my xB next week.

Call around and get some quotes - it can't hurt

You'd really be doing yourself a favor by making some phone calls. Any info culled from this chat room would be purely anecdotal in that your rates will vary based on:
amounts of coverage -- liability, uninsured motorists, collision, deductibles
zip code you live in
driving record
how many cars you own
how many people will be driving the car (significant other?)
your age
distance you drive to/fro school/work
$$$ amount of aftermarket parts on car -- assuming you want them covered too
etc.
A phone call is cheap, but the info you gather from it is priceless.
daboxinsl 02-09-2004, 09:00 PM Costco does inusrance now and I pay 92 a month with 250/500 and a $250.00 deductible
Jay82 02-10-2004, 03:38 AM Well of course I made calls around. I'm not that stupid lol. I was just tryin to think of some OTHER insurance companies I could call by seeing who you guys use. I live in CA by the way.
Indy007 02-10-2004, 01:27 PM Well, I'm paying around $180 a month (full coverage, no tkts or accidents, but under 25yrs old) for a 98 4Runner SR5 right now. I went by my agent's office yesterday in a blue xB and asked what would my rates change to when my RS 1 shows up. Turns out based on the sticker price my insurance will actually drop $10 a month.

Okay. I use Allstate and pay $750/yr. for full coverage.
bbx4rob 02-10-2004, 02:32 PM Wawanesa Insurance (Calif), $1300/year for 01 RAV4 and O4 xB, two drivers both age 29, clean records.
I'm paying about $1200 a year for an 04 xB and an 02 Mazda Protege5. It's through GEICO and not too bad.
wonderworm 02-10-2004, 03:15 PM $421 for a full year with Amica.
$250otc / 500 collision deductible. All rest minimums.
Over 25 years of age.
No tickets or accidents
Driver Improvement discount.
Second car discount.
Basically, I was paying $600 a year for my other car and they added the xB for a low $288/year.
xB is in the wagon category so teenager insurance rates will be lower than most all other cars.
NemoBronsky 02-10-2004, 06:09 PM I went from driving a 94 nissan altima with liability only which was close to nothing every month, with the xB on the policy I'll be paying an extra 120 or so a month for full collision/glass/etc. with 750 dollar deductibles but we have other cars on the policy so I think that helps, and I've got speeding tickets galore already and have been an assigned risk since I was 17 when I got into a little fender bender. oh yeah its with GEICO so ya know.
Jay82 02-10-2004, 09:14 PM I'm under 25 with a clean driving record and the quotes I'm finding are approx $1200 for 6 months on the xB
That's pretty high. You should be able to get less than that. I'm only paying $300ish for the xB and I'm under 25 and have a clean driving record. That's for full coverage with a $500 deductable.
Jay82 02-11-2004, 04:52 AM Okay things are looking up. I did a 21st Century Quote and got $694 every 6 months which is about what I pay now on my old car. I'm so happy now I might be able to get my Scion
xbxbxb 02-15-2004, 05:10 PM I use Wawanesa as well just like bbx4rob. I do not know how many people I have turned to them. They have been a great company. I pay 1700.00 a year for full coverage 100/300 with 250.00 deductables for my 04 Scion, an 03 GMC Standard cab truck, a 00 Viper GTS Coupe, and an 85 Honda accord. I am also 28 with no accidents or tickts. Give them a call!
No2Gates 02-15-2004, 05:23 PM I pay 51.00 per month with Farmers (41 with no tickets helps..)
kwicslvr 02-15-2004, 06:06 PM $55/month through USAA
windowtint 02-19-2004, 04:52 AM .
Radiodude 02-19-2004, 08:02 AM im 23 in Harris county, tx... houston (REALLY REALLY HIGH INSURENCE) and nationwide quoted me 125 a month w/ 250/500 deductables... 8 bucks a month more than my 95 grand cherokee limited.
Clean record, never a ticket.
krollmonster 05-31-2004, 03:33 PM $975 for the entire year, but upgraded the coverages to 100,000/300,000, etc. and pay $1025 a year now.
bbcrud 05-31-2004, 03:49 PM $975 for the entire year, but upgraded the coverages to 100,000/300,000, etc. and pay $1025 a year now.
I think the insurance companies are beginning to get a clue.
kwicslvr 05-31-2004, 04:30 PM $975 for the entire year, but upgraded the coverages to 100,000/300,000, etc. and pay $1025 a year now.
I think the insurance companies are beginning to get a clue. What do you mean by that?
breunor 06-01-2004, 04:49 PM My allstate agent said my rates would increase by $30 every 6 months, but that's from a '99 Saturn SW2 to this, so overall the rates seem to be appropriate if it's similar to a small wagon. I expect if I got the tC with a supercharger and racing seats/harness, the agent might add a few bucks to the rates! :D
daillestqt 06-01-2004, 05:44 PM Yea I had a question about this too..I'm 21...no tickets clean driving record...I was quoted 1372.00 6 months, 340 down and 245 every 4 months :? That is UGLY...so I'm still searching...I'm in northwest indiana/chicago by the way..and Allstate was OUTLANDISH with 2300 for SIX MONTHS!!!
