View Full Version : Injen Axleback
It just came in today. Sounds great. The install was fairly simple did it in like 30 mins. Only problem is it rubs against the ground effects i have installed. It's slightly melting the lip....Anyone know of something to put in between the exhaust and the body to stop this. The only other way I can think of is cutting the bumper which I don't want to do.
Anybody that wants one should go to Ken at Sparks TRD. There was a small problem with Injen not producing enough exhaust, and he informed me about it within 20 minutes of my order. Very nice service. He kept me updated every step of the way.
Hopefully pics will be up soon. I've got pics of the whole install , but damn 56k is to slow to upload them.
acasanova 03-17-2005, 03:57 AM I have the Injen axleback and i have the exact same problem as you. Sounds great decent gains for an axleback, but the damn thing rubs on my oem ground effects kit. The only thing i can think of is to find a longer rubber holder than the stock one. If you notice you can squeeze the last rubber hanger closer to the back and the exhaust tip drops a quarter inch.
English 03-17-2005, 04:14 AM Wonder how loud it will be with the DC header??? Someone, anyone, DO IT!!!
aarontrini85 03-17-2005, 05:04 AM i will have another video of mine tomorrow i took it tonight when i washed my car and went to take some pics with my friends i also noticed today my tip is no longer touching my bumpber i guess it slid or something every thing is still tight but it doest touch any more oh well if it works it works
aarontrini85 03-17-2005, 07:11 PM i have my new sound clip up from the outside damn i love this axle back
Whocares05050 03-17-2005, 07:15 PM thats tight, well i was thinkin about the injen axleback but wasnt up for the money it costed so my buddy that owns a custom exaust shop made a custom axle back and it sounds so hot. its got that deep tone i was lookin for to
davo345 03-17-2005, 08:23 PM question:
Why is axle-back more popular than cat-back? I would think cat-back would yeild more power and thus would be more popular...
toastbox 03-17-2005, 09:05 PM guessing the cat back is more expensive? I'm wondering the same thing.
acasanova-yea have you found a longer rubber hanger. thats whats really needed just on the back . I was thinking that it might be possible to make something that would like push that back section of the exhaust down.... but i havent looked up there to see if there's anything to bolt it to.

A lot of people see it as a money thing as well. Axle backs look good too.

I Havent found a longer hanger yet, still looking ,also dont try to bend or alter anything back there something can crack. Ill just try to get my hands on a longer rubber thingy .
Me and my dad looked at and a found temp. solution.
If you take the rubber thingy off you can cut out that middle bar that goes across. That gives it a little bit more stretchability (new word lol). Then get out some wire and tie it REALLY tight around the middle where you cut out the middle peice. Also mine had moved off to the right some. If you look at the first bend right under the suspension theres a little loop you can tie some more wire to and wrap it around the pipe to move it over.
Yea I know this sounds really ghetto but its just a temporary solution. Im gonna get my dad to cut some new rubber hangers at his work.
But yea try that if you want it off the bumper till youfigure out something else.
Whocares05050 03-18-2005, 01:05 AM well mine what i did for my custom axle back was that right next to the stock hanger is a whole were a nut and bolt can go, so i snaked the bolt from the top and attached the nut and then welded the hanger to the muffler and torched off the excess. hope this helps i wish i had a camera to show you guys
squirrel 03-18-2005, 03:32 AM I helped do the dB reading and video and it was my first time in a tC w/ the axleback. I loved it! Makes me wish I had a Injen axleback equipped tC.

Thats a really good idea fish, i thought about doing that ever sinse i discovered you can squeeze the hanger and the exhaust drops a quarter inch, i was scared that i might affect the shock absorbent properties of the hangrr but you know what im gonna try your idea for now man thanks.

Gambit7 03-21-2005, 04:17 AM Has anyone had problems with this not sealing completely @ the factory pipe? I think that my factory bracket might be bent but I wanted to check here first.
aarontrini85 03-21-2005, 05:20 AM it took me some time to get it to seal right i had to evenly tighten the bolts check were its leaking from then losen up the oposite side just a little and tighten donw the leaking side then retighten the side you loosend
i hope you understand that
it took me about 15 min to get sealed
yea you just have to tighten a little bit on one side and then tighten a little bit on the other side until its tight.
IndigoDreams 03-21-2005, 08:45 PM dont know if you guys remember a while back someone on here had Tsudo use his car to make their axleback and he sold it. Well im the one who boght it and i luv it. it sits perfect with the stock ground effects, it sits at an angle and not stright out the back, the sound is the best part of it, with the silencer in it sounds very mellow just a bit louder than stock, but once u get that out it sounds amazing. at idle it j ust rumbles and sounds like the SRT-4 when you rev it up its nothing but a deep growl and seriously reminds me of a slightly toned down srt-4, maybe you could say an srt-4 with 2 resonators installed on the exhaust..HEHEHE. Id love to here the clips of you guys with the Injen and some pics from different angles would be great as well.
aarontrini85 03-21-2005, 08:58 PM check my cardomain i have to sound clips and i put 2 pics up right now
Is that sound clip with an intake or not? and how long after you put it on was the sound clip taken? Just wondering because i heard the clip on this forum of K&N CAi with the TRD exhaust and it sound Deeper than the injen one you have on, i wnat to get the Injen exhaust but after hearing both sound clips now im on stage one again on what exhaust to get, the HKS sounds to Honda for me
cambro71 04-17-2005, 06:49 PM hey has anyone ordered their exhuast frm tctunerz? if so how long did it take to get there. also someone mentioned that injen wasnt producing enough exhuast huh?
cant wait for mine i have the k&N CAI and DC header.... sounds pretty nicce right now though
Yes i forgot to ask about that also what gives what did they mean when they said the Injen axle back was not giving out enought exhaust?
