Default How do you remove the cowl, 2010 xb

hey, I need to remove the plastic cowl to clean out the debris that has gone thru it over a year and a half. Pollen, leaves, polly wogs, small twigs fragments etc. I was hearing water swooshing after a very heavy rainfall that lasted days. I pinpointed it to the cowl area where the wiper motor and linkage is, just below the outer plastic cowl cover. The "channel" underneath is supposed catch and drain the water off to the sides and out the bottom of the car but its so clogged up the water just sits there and some apparently overflowed into the AC air intake the level had gotten so high. If anyone else parks outside all the time and gets this swoosh sound when you turn the corner, maybe you have the same issue.
Ive checked the AC drain hose to ensure that was not clogged as well, it isnt, totally clear. Also checked the heater core for leaks. The water is definitely from a heavy downpour and not a clogged ac drain or leaky core.
Does anyone know how to properly remove the cowl cover? I need to get inside and use a wet vac to suction out whats stuck in there and clean the drain holes so it drains again.

Thanx in advance...

You just have to remove the wiper arms first. See page 2 of the TRD spring installation instructions:

just pull it off by hand I've done it a million times. Get a marker so that you can match the spline up when you put it back on.

There are also dots on the windshield where the tip of the wiper should be when installing.

hey, thanks Jnaval, nice rims on your XB! Can I see these position dots before i remove the cowl? Can you be more specific? Tip of wiper blade or closer to the wiper blade hook where the arm attaches to the blade?
What color are the positioning dots? Im gonna go take a look now. Thanx man!

Sorry I was so vague, but there's clear dots on the black part of the windshield above the cowl, you can see it without removing anything. The tip of the wiper blade rubber, farthest from the base of the wiper arm, should line up to the dots in the "down" or "off" position.
