This may be a dumb question. I have a 2010 XB. I have always been curious about the squarish third space (the one right behind the cupholder). It is odd looking, as if it is meant to hold something made for it. Have I missed something?

An upside down iPod sits nicely in there while plugged in.

Thanks, but I am not asking what it might be used for, but what it was designed for. It has an odd shape, with that ridge halfway down, like it was specifically made for something. Still wondering.

Its a juice box holder, the ridge keeps it from falling all of the way down.

This should do a better job of clearing things up. From page 7 of the original 2nd-Gen brochure:

cool beans, 3 years and a real answer! why didn't i ever see that mentioned before instead of all the speculation?

btw, mine holds my Scion change purse and car-mex. what a pita to clean!
