Wiper Wiperout--Mechanics out there?
My scion xb which I love has had another issue. The wipers! No longer does intermittent wiper setting work. No longer do the wiper blades return to the bottom of the windshield if I turn them off on any of the other settings either.
This is after the mirror broke. Was backing out of my garage, just tapped the mirror housing which then flipped back, like it is supposed to. But this time, although the mirror itself wasn't touched, it popped out. This has happened before and always popped right back in. But this time, it wouldn't. Finally discovered one teensy little plastic part of one of the plastic gripper turning arm thingys that fits over one of the rotating thingys for inside electric adjustment broke off, so it won't hold in place and is not going to. One tiny piece of plastic and now I have to tape the mirror in place which looks white trashy.
This mirror issue was followed a month later by the wiper failure. Anyone know how to fix the wiper problem? At least summer is almost here, shouldn't rain as much here in Oregon, where it always seems to be raining. No, I don't have the bucks to take it to a shop. I do have 200k on this car now and I still love it.

I'd visit my Scion/Toyota dealer's parts department and look for the broken plastic part. If they don't sell it, and you have to buy the whole mirror assembly, get that from eBay or a junkyard. Then get it to work. If the problems are related, it will prove to be a bad ground on the adjustable mirror.
If the problems aren't related, you'll have to troubleshoot the wiper control module, switch, motor, and relay. Failure to park is likely a defective module. You might want to pick that up on your junkyard run, too.
