View Full Version : Where should our next SE activity be?

I know that we just came off the high of the El Toro meet but it's already time to think of the next meet.

Scion Evolution (SE) is coming along faster then we all anticipated so it would be great to hear from everyone where the next meet should be.

Since we had it in El Toro (Irvine) and really didn't get to interact with all the people that we wanted to so we should definitely have it as a potluck BBQ or something of the sort.

You all know the drill....drop a location and hopefully anyone that's interested can make it out.

I'm down for San Diego, but let's not forget the Valley and LA guys. How about Point Fermin Park in San Pedro, hometown, with a ride up the coast afterwards. The Queen Mary, or better meet in San Juan Capistrano with a ride over highway 74 through the mountains. I'm hot to drive 74 over the top and down the other side. Anything but a parking lot, no pun intended.

this would be a few months off, but when summer hits we should all head down to the santa Monica Peir on a sunday, they have these really dope free concerts durring summer - we could have a beach cruise and then hit the pier for some brews and some tunes!

Great ideas..Mark..how about El Dorado Park in Long Beach..it's huge and it can hold a lot of Scions in the parking lot..

The only thing is that they charge for parking..

If anyone knows of a public park that has ample parking let us know.

I know that there are several nice ones in Chino Hills that I have been to and there was a bbq already set up..

Hopefully Chris B. (FlipPinoy) can bring some of his wife's bbq..at the last Spy meet that was gone real fast...

Depending on how long of a met you want it to be...We can start with KDawg's idea...meet in San Juan Capistrano, canyon run over Ortega (Hwy 74)...then I was thinking maybe head south on the I-15 to the 78 and truck it on out to Pala Casino.

I will look into the drive time for a trip like this but this would definitely be better as a midday or early afternoon start time.

Maybe something to keep in mind for the future.

Sounds good, I definitely think a SD run or at least in that direction is nice since we had it in the OC area last time. Don't worry Valley peeps I didn't forget about you guys. Definitely next time.

I'm diggin exactly what Rhobz said but I did a search for a park in that area and found nothing. Anyone know of a nice place over there with large parking areas?

Also suggestions on days would be nice. I was thinking Sunday the 22nd.

If we hit belmont park that'd be tight. It's right next to my house! That rollercoaster is actually a lot of fun...in the summertime it's only a buck to ride it on Tuesdays, so Ali and I'd bike over there and have the cheesy tuesday night rollercoaster date!
There's also a ton of good restraunts and bars real close by...PB, MB, and Gaslamp are all within 10 minutes, and the casinos are only like half an hour.

Dana point sounds good too. I definately need to get a job that has weekends off!

I'm down to do whatever. The only problems I see with having something of a picnic/bbq event is that the weather hasn't been the greatest lately and its DAMN cold. If you guys decide on that, I can do Korean BBQ ribs (cos I'm half Korean you know).

I do think it would be good to do some sort of a San Diego run since the San Diego guys are always coming up for our events. It'd be nice to return the favor. :D

Scionic, you mentioned Sun Feb 22nd...

Provided the weather holds, Racelegal.com is having an event at Qualcomm Stadium that day. They have drag races and car shows, and you all could enter either one you wish or just park together and hang out. Tailgate parties are encouraged, and they also open up a concession stand that sells drinks, nachos, burgers, etc. Entry fee is $5.00 for spectators, $20 for racers, and last time we went, it was free if you entered your car in the car show competition. I don't know what time the gates open, but I think it's probably 9 or 10AM.

Would kick ___ to have a bunch of Scions show up and steal the car show trophies, lol.

i dont think this is a race event i think this is an event so all can get 2 know each other cause there wasnt enough time 2 chill in el toro so thats why the guys planned a bbq not a race well thats my opinon i would like to have other peeps show up 2 for some single guys they should invite some girls 2 come down even if they dont own a scion and other peeps like close friends should be able to come to what do you guys think

The racelegal event that sci fire brought up is actually a pretty good idea. Granted, its not a park but we can still bring a BBQ, have Big Russian do some cookin...and at the same time watch some 1/8mile drag fury! The events are located at Qualcomm stadium so parking is not a problem. I also think it would be pretty funny for a bunch of Scion to come and win all the trophies (well, plaques) for the show. They award for things like "Best Wheels", "Best Paint", etc. Its just a minishow...and a good time.

Hey Big Rush,

y don't u invite the ladies...hehe. u seem like a guy who would know alot of wominz.

as for me, i'm hooked on my girl...so no looky loo..haha.

We gotta seriously pick a place...so we can annouce the BBQ event for the 22nd. It seems SD area will be most appropriate cuz all of them are always coming up to LA area. Then we'll do a Valley event...

i'll have to push Nilo to announce something soon...

Definitely a nice idea Sci.

Thing is I feel that Big Russian has it right....this event was in hopes that we get to know each other. I love the tailgate idea but the race and show isn't too cool because it's a distraction.

Not to be the party pooper....I want to promote the club feel and have people interact together. Since SE is growing, I want the people that partake of it to grow together....not apart.

Don't get me wrong, I'd love a drag and to sweep all the plaques but it's not about the glory right now....it's about the love. Ain't easy being cheesy :D

And I think a BBQ would be the best option unless of course everyone else feels different.

Started a new poll in this thread so vote your feeling.
