View Full Version : Window Visors TheGhostXB 06-26-2011, 05:31 AM I'm looking for a clean set of window visors, I don't want the universal bulky ones...any help? xseveredveganx 06-26-2011, 05:38 AM These are the ones I got. Love them. Best price I found, too. It's really all a matter of personal choice, go with what you prefer (really doesn't matter what others think). XBinRochester 06-26-2011, 10:00 AM I bought the same ones that xseveredveganx bought. I love the clean look to them! http://i497.photobucket.com/albums/rr334/bikerochester/Scion%20XB/dsc_0007.jpg CIONIDE 06-26-2011, 05:18 PM x3 on the AVS Seamless Vent Visors http://i249.photobucket.com/albums/gg208/Cionide/100_1196.jpg Superpickel 06-26-2011, 06:00 PM Descendant carries the VIP style vent shades. http://www.world-motorsports.com/wmstore/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=4_27&products_id=47 CIONIDE 06-26-2011, 06:13 PM Descendant carries the VIP style vent shades. Those are the same ones everybody else in this thread, except Trevor, are talking about, but they charge $45 more than the link severedvegan posted. SamCarroll 06-26-2011, 06:18 PM BTW your local Toyota dealership can order these and they're then warrantied for a year if purchased through the dealership. Its in their online accessories options. At least my dealership can order them. Thats where i ordered mine. $77.00 and no shipping charges, usually takes a few days because its drop shipped. xseveredveganx 06-27-2011, 05:43 AM BTW your local Toyota dealership can order these and they're then warrantied for a year if purchased through the dealership. TheotherBMan 10-03-2011, 07:18 AM I started out with the AVS 'universal' and trimmed the vinyl to the bottom edge. http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e106/wbryanj/3quarter.jpg They worked better but I still like the 'seamless' much better and I pulled the rest of the vinyl. http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e106/wbryanj/LAtoo.jpg pyroman131 10-04-2011, 12:39 AM Well since this thread resurfaced, I wanted to update you on my seamless visors: The passenger side shattered after one year! Oh no!! I guess the tape was too weak or something but it came loose on the highway and the wind caught under it and broke it in half LOL! So now I'm in the market for new ones! I loved these visors and I want to buy a new set, but they are just too darn close to my windows and rattle all the time! Does anyone have good ideas for spacers rather than just doubling or tripling up on the 3M tape? CIONIDE 10-04-2011, 08:14 AM I've had my AVS seamless vent visors for several years now. They've been absolutely perfect... no rubbing, rattling or touching the window glass, no wind noise at speed, no cracks or breaking at all. Because they're 3M taped to the window vinyl trim, I'll be leaving them on for the trade-in, but I will definitely be getting another set when I get my 2012 replacement xB. pyroman131 10-09-2011, 07:13 PM Yeah, you should just take those off your xB and give me a good price. :) CIONIDE 10-09-2011, 07:38 PM Unfortunately there's no way to get the super sticky 3M tape from the visors off of the vinyl window trim without trashing it, so they're staying where they're at. Just spend the $80 and get a new set, they're well worth it. TheotherBMan 10-09-2011, 09:54 PM Unfortunately there's no way to get the super sticky 3M tape from the visors off of the vinyl window trim without trashing it, so they're staying where they're at. Just spend the $80 and get a new set, they're well worth it. When I removed the universal AVS ones I cleaned all the tape residue off with denatured alcohol and it all came off and left no marks. CIONIDE 10-09-2011, 11:23 PM When I removed the universal AVS ones I cleaned all the tape residue off with denatured alcohol and it all came off and left no marks. Wow, surprising but good to know. When I pulled my shark fin antenna off alcohol did nothing to the 3M tape, and I had to use adhesive remover which is safe on paint but says not to rub it on vinyl. I'll err on the side of safety, and just leave the visors on. pyroman131 10-10-2011, 12:48 AM I'll probably just pull the trigger and buy some new ones. jnaval 10-10-2011, 02:01 AM Because they're 3M taped to the window vinyl trim, I'll be leaving them on for the trade-in, but I will definitely be getting another set when I get my 2012 replacement xB. OT: Why do you plan on replacing your current xB2? CIONIDE 10-10-2011, 02:35 AM OT: Why do you plan on replacing your current xB2? Because I have over 94k miles on it. My 100k Toyota Platinum Care VSA will be expiring soon, and I don't want to own it out of warranty. That VSA has already covered over $1500 of work that would have been out-of-pocket, and while I haven't had any coil/wiring harness issues yet, I would hate to have to potentially come up with those $$ down the road. I still have 18 months of payments on the current loan, and with the equity I have now I should be able to drop my payments on a new xB by about $40 per month. Additionally, the trade-in value drops considerably after 100k miles because Toyota can only offer a factory used car warranty (anywhere from 12k - 48k miles in length) on a Toyota/Scion with less than 100k miles at the date of sale. For many used car buyers the ability to have that peace of mind can be the difference between deciding to buy a car with almost 100k miles or not buying it. Plus dealerships like knowing that they have another source of potential profit on the used car sale. That pretty much covers it. jnaval 10-10-2011, 03:58 AM That pretty much covers it. Sounds like good reasoning for a replacement, thanks for entertaining my question. Best of luck with your future 2012 xB2, in for pics if you're still around the forums when you get it. |
