ok, so i have been using turtle wax ultra gloss on my tC. it goes on great, it covers swirls and knicks really well and it makes the finish look and feel great...but it only makes it that way for about a week. i washed my car last week with turtle wax zip wash and waxed it with turtlewax ultra gloss. it looked awesome.

i washed it today, because it had accumulated alot of road salt and junk. then i dried it off with my new microfiber drying cloths, very nice to have. i noticed that the water didn't barely bead on the surface anymore. it doesn't have half the gloss it used to have and all the swirl marks and knicks are back to showing again.

so, turtlewax ultra gloss is awesome if you don't ever drive your car. thats my conclusion.

i want a wax that covers swirls and actually protects the surface. the swirls and knicks i will remove eventually, the correct way with light rubbing compounds and swirl removers.. i need a wax that lasts.

i'm thinking about getting a synthetic paint sealer, like klasse all in one. it covers light swirls and seals the surface with an acrylic, i think. anyone ever use it?
then i would follow that up with some P21S carnuba wax

Try just using Eagle One Nano Wax ... Its new from Eagle One and it replaces their Carnuba Wax. The Nano Wax is a new technology and it better then Carnuba Wax. Give it shot. I use it on my box and it covers up light surface scratches and its last for about 2 weeks depending on how the weather is ... when it was snowing over here with all the road salt and ____ it didn't last too long but in normal weather it last a good 2 weeks ...

I use Klasse AIO polish, then I follow up with Klasse sealant glaze, and P21S afterwards. It lasts, but I also use a porter cable and reapply the sealant glaze every month or so.

I second the use of the Klasse twins. I also add a coat of Four Star UPP as it gives the paint a super slick feel. Most waxes should last longer than a week though. What are you using to wash your car?

turtle wax zip wash. it says it doesn't remove wax. i'm going to get some klasse all in one and some s100 wax, because i'm cheap and i don't want to spend $30 for p21s

I've been using Mother's Carnuba(sp?) wax every 6 weeks or so on cars. Seems to work fine for me.

Yeah, your problem is for sure your product. Turtle Wax is
for people that don't know any better. Stick with one of the
name brands recommended by these guys.

Out of all the waxes I've used, Zaino lasts the longest. Only problem is that it's a bit expensive and time consuming to apply. The results however are the best I've seen. Very reflective, durable, and attracts less dust than other waxes.

Meguiar's nXT wax is great wax as well. Super easy to apply, but doest last after 2 washes. Good to use in between Zaino jobs :D

Turtle Wax has begun running ad spots on MTV, so has Black Magic. I surmise they're making enough money to afford this. Still doesn't mean their a quality product.

Go with something like Zaino Bros, Meguiar's, Mother's, Shinning Monkey, etc. You won't have to reapply as often.

I use Nu Finish and that stuff works great. It's relatively cheap, and it's probably one of the easiest waxes that I have seen to use. I'd definately recommend it.

you really dont need to use a claybar unless your paint is really f'ed up. I you maintain your paint like only using microfiber and fresh clean towels for drying there really isnt a need for it on a new painjob. According to my dad a Senior Sales rep for BASF's automotive dept.

umm, claybar helps to keep that lustery shine we all crave, you dont have to clay bar every time u wax, every once and a while will do, it eliminates tar, sap, dirt, grim, and gets rid of small imperfections and scratches, it really is a wonder thing i love it deep down in my little heart..................

A claybar is a waste of time on new paint... my tc is over 8 months old and my paint shines better than new. To much effort for the benefits... if you maintain your paint and are careful about what touches your paint you dont have anything to worry about... I'm sure it helps a little bit but its not really worth the time and effort.

Throw the Turtle wax away!!!! Use Meguar's NXT wax. And the clay bar helps also. Will make that thing as smooth as glass.

i use meguires in the burgundy bottles, so far only done the cleaner (had a tar/sap issue) and the car shined! It's been 2 weeks and the car needs a wash but still feels super smoothe.

klasse all in one is a sealant

also, clay bar isn't a waste on a new car. do the hand in the plastic bag test, i can totally guarantee you, that you will feel some definite bumps all over your car, especially towards the bottom, i know i have them on mine, damn winter

well if you have 3 hours to waste claybaring your car i guess go for it but new paint doesnt need it. Your car comes wetsanded there isn't a need for it. NOT WORTH THE TIME OR MONEY FOR THE RESULTS... sure it get a little smoother but for how long... but if it makes you feel better go for it.

Claying may be needed even on some new cars, I know mine needed it for sure. I'm not to sure what was on my front fenders but from day one they were never glass smooth like the rest of my car. Last weekend I picked up a clay bar and some detailing spray and gave that a try on the fenders. After claying them for a min or two they felt like glass smooth. I've also had the car for a couple months and detailed it (Wash, Cleaner, Polish, Wax) a few times and the fenders were never 100% smooth, til the clay. I say feel you paint, if it's not 100% smooth give a clay bar a try, I'm so glad I did. You should only need to clay you car a couple times a year at most, and it doesn't really take that much time to do.

it takes about 20 mins max to clay a whole car

maybe for the hood of a car. claying when you need to clay your car is a long process. You also have to be careful not to scratch the paint with any large pieces of dirt stuck on the claybar. a good clay job takes at least as long as an hour.

clay also works to remove paint splatter. we clayed one of my friend's car that had white paint splattered all over the front grill. worked easily on the paint but not so easy on the plastic grill.

People who say that they can clay their car in 30 minutes is either:

1. Someone who hasn't tried it
2. doing it entirely wrong
3. can slow down time to 1/3
3. possess superhuman speed I.e. Flash

Claying a car is one of the more detail extensive projects you can do, even more so than waxing. A good clay job can bring out any clearcoated finish to showroom smoothness. Combine it with a porter buffer with mild polish to remove fine swirls, then seal and wax it down.
