I have a heating issue that I can't fix, I have a mishimoto radiator, there racing thermostat and the fans that came with my ptuning kit. The car is fine on the highway cursing temps are around 180-185. The problem I have stop and go traffic the car starts to see temps around 215 and both fans kick in at the same time at 210(which seems high and late) the only thing I think of is that the cheap radiator is heat soaking and that the down pipe is extremely close. Wanted to know if any one has ever had any problems like this. Also both fans are spinning correctly, coolant is filled with 50/50 Toyota pink, and system has been bleed with heat on. I feel like adding another pusher in the front with a switch.

 

Also the motor is fully built

 

my car gets warm here down in oklahoma with the ac on but the temps are 109-114 im on stock radiator tho with 2 slim fans. do you kno wat your cfm's are on your fans? i was lookin at some 1000+ flowing cfm fans for my setup

your fans may be wired backwards. Also, I honestly have no idea when the tC fans are supposed to come on, but 210 does seem very high, I could be wrong though.

 

^^^ I checked that the one in the engine bay is a puller and the one on the a/c condenser is a pusher

 

why do you have one pushing and one pulling? is one mounted to the radiator and one mounted to the condensor? cause if their both facing the radiator spinning the oppisite way of each other....thats your problem.

 

slim fans = PITA with over heating issues...this has been going on with me for like a year now.

 

The problem is the fans coming on too late. Mine comes on immediately at 200.

 

^^^^ what's up big Mike. I actually wired the puller fan on a switch to see if I can control temps, but even when I turn on the fan manually at 185 is tills climbs in traffinc.

 

They are both on opposite sides, but I feel like buying a pusher and putting it in front of the puller

 

I am going to try heat wrapping the down pipe see if that helps, it is like 1 1/2 inches away from the radiator

 

It took me awhile to fix overheating issue. I heat wrapped my downpipe and i think it helps but not totally. I have 3 fans right now, 2 permacool pushers 12" and a 10" puller.. and a 170 degree themostat and mishimoto rad. I also have 30% coolant, 70% water.

Is your thermostat functioning correctly? What is their "racing" thermostat supposed to open at?

Yup I hard to get the car warm at idle in 95 degree weathear and on the high way I cruise at 175-180

 

FYI You have SPAL fans.

The problem is ONLY at idle. First I would try heat wrapping the downpipe and dumptube - as well as picking up a blanket for the turbo hotside.

If that doesnt help give this a shot - since the problem is only at idle try wiring the fan on the condenser to a puller. At idle it wouldnt matter which direction the fan is doing its job - and it would stop it from pushing hot air into your radiator.

If that doesnt work we will need to wire in seperate relays for both fans and control them with the Haltech to come on much earlier.

 

i have a feeling that the turbo blanket will make the biggest difference. how do you guys like that haltech unit btw?
