Thinking about lowering my tC with 163k miles
Hey team,
So since my car still runs great (2005 Scion tC, 5-spd, a proud 163,000 on the motor from 34 miles), I am very close to ordering some 18's (18x8, offset 38 on some 225/40/18 tires) and drop the car 2" with some Sportlines. Few questions:
1. From what I have researched, I will not have to roll my fenders to avoid rubbing, right?
2. Should I be concerned about my shocks going out quickly after dropping my car with the Sportlines? I really want to tuck the tires in, but not too deep to where rubbing will occur, etc.
Thanks guys, and I'm sorry if I couldn't use the search function to find the proper answer.

nah i dont think rubbing will be an issue, the only way i feel like it would be an issue would be since ur struts/shocks have so many miles that once u throw the springs on there itll blow quick and the struts will jus drop but besides that not at all
200$ > $1000 for right now. a good set of stuck shocks/struts will only run about 50-100$
so about 200-300$ for a spring set up is cheap. unless u buys raceland/rokkor coilovers which wont be worth it since there so cheap theyll blow quicker

Well, I'm not getting into an e-argument, but if he doesn't slam them there is no reason to think they will blow. They have been proven to last at decent drops for DD's (examples all over this site).
Anyway, best of luck with whatever you choose, let us know how it works out, and see pictures!!

I totally see where you're coming from Roller, but honestly, I'd rather spend roughly $600 on a nice spring set/strut as I don't see myself constantly adjusting my suspension with coils.
Totally understandable, I'm on hotchkis springs myself for that reason(if they would make koni adjustables for the xb2 I would keep them, but since they dont, thats my main reason for wanting coilovers).
Just trying to let you know all your options before you drop moolah.
Koni yellows aren't too pricey, I think the trd shocks/struts are even cheaper....:D
Edit: I just checked, koni yellows are a biiiit pricey, lol

Thanks SO much for the feedback guys, seriously! So my tire/wheel combo should not cause any rubbing I hope with a 2" drop? Lol I'm really freakin' paranoid because I drive a TON.
You chose right with the Eibachs. They are some of the only springs that will say to use them with factory dampers. They also have a great warranty, which means you won't be like the guy who posted elsewhere that his springs wore out...
I wouldn't recommend 18" wheels if you drive that much, but that's just me... Bigger tires are more expensive to replace, bigger wheels are heavier....
