Alpine X-over settings
I have a Alpine CD-9833 installed as my HU. I'm trying to tune the crossfader perfectly, and the equalizer. Right now i'm just worried about making everything sound good without distortion though. I have the stock speakers. I'm assuming the crossover is roughly the same with the newer alpine models. So my question is that, does anyone own an alpine on their tC and know the "correct" settings or at least settings that sound good. I'm no audiophile, and for some reason, whenever I tune the xover, i find myself re-tuning it.
Honestly tuning things like this are really a preference issue. I would just try to ensure that I'm not driving the speakers into a range which they cannot produce, thus blowing them from distortion. Personally I don't think I'd drive any of the stock speakers below 60Hz, so that might be a good high-pass x-over point.
thanks a lot. I know it's a preference issue, I just wanted to know what has been working for everyone else, since we do own the same car, and my settings are not working for me. Well, i'll go ahead and redo everything again, but thanks for the Xover point
Sure. BTW, that's just a typical x-over point I use for mids/components regardless of which car they're in. When I had good CDT components in my last car I had them crossed over high-pass @ 50Hz. They could handle the extra bass, though.
