Hey guys, new to the forum and asking my first stupid question!

I drive a TRD Super Charged 4Runner (on T4R.org as A.Wilson013), and decided to get my wife into the Toyota family, so purchased her a 2007 Black Cherry TC last Friday.

Anyway, for my question-
I am trying to find an Intake/Exhaust setup that won't be incredibly loud and obnoxious. My wife and I both drive very conservative, typically shifting around 2500 RPM, but I have noticed that cruising at 60 on the freeway the engine likes to hover right around 3k RPM, which in a friends civic, is a very LOUD RPM to cruise at.

What would you guys recommend for a setup that won't be obnoxiously loud? I would like to stay true to TRD, but am willing to try different things if you guys do not think that's a good option for me.

So far I have run her AUX cord up through that little cubby in the center console, removed her TC emblem, blacked out her Scion emblems, and the chrome trim on the grille. In the future I am going to to throw some TRD springs on, JDM fogs, and perhaps a subtle tint job. Oh, and a small sub, probably a 10" Alpine Type-S. The bass in this thing is awful!

 

I think the TRD exhaust would be a good choice. I had mine on for a while and it was never too loud for me. (I also didn't want a loud exhaust at first) I say at first because I have changed the mid pipe to the tsudo, still with the trd exhaust and I have a nice rumble.

 

3K in a civic might be loud because of his exhaust setup. Search around the site for sound clips and on youtube. I agree that a TRD exhaust will do good. AEM/Injen are your 2 best bets for intakes.

 

Isn't the AEM the same as the TRD...? I would like to stick with TRD products.

 

I agree with you. Anything TRD sells(regardless of who makes it) is going to be reasonable on the street. I've used a TRD muffler in the past, and it's a really nice piece.
