Light Clunking/Clicking With Sportline Install
Just installed the Eibach Sportline set yesterday using a combination of directions from the TRD Spring installation manual and PapaBear's video for the S-Tech.
I know there has already been talk around here about a 'creaking' noise when turning the wheel at low speeds after a lowering spring install. I'm NOT having this issue.
My issue is I get a light clunking/clicking noise when I am driving at low/moderate speeds. It doesn't necessarily have to be a large bump either...just roads that are rough or when I drive over a manhole cover. Things like that.
At highway speeds, even when I cross over a bridge with joints, I don't hear the noise.
It appears to be coming from the front AND rear. Though I'm not 100% sure.

maybe they need to be 'broken-in'? Dunno much about springs but i read somewhere that eibachs don't have the 'rubber sleeve' that tein's do so they make some sound but I'm guessing its supposed to go away since I havn't heard complaints about it :/
Hmmm..well they do have the rubber sleeves on the rear springs. Not on the front though. But I am not hitting bump large enough for those to come into play anyway.
The break-in idea is what I hoping for and leaning towards...just due to the simple fact that I believe I am hearing it from more than just one corner.

i have s-tech in i thought it will go away after a break in time it just gets worse and worse for me it was my struts cant take it and my driver side strut is totally dead now clunks over the smallest bump on the road
i have sportlines, this will come and go, the big problem is that the spring rates are much higher and the shocks/struts are doing much at slow speeds. also, check your jack. mine came loose after 2 weeks of driving on rough roads here in NC.
It comes and goes? That's lame.
And I don't know a lot about springs/shocks/struts, but I'm not sure that logic makes sense to me. If the springs are stiffer, that should mean less work for the shocks/struts...not more. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.
And what do you mean by my jack?? Like the spare tire jack comes loose because of the stiff ride?

I had a follow up appointment to find out what the hell was going on with my sportlines having the same issue. They pulled the springs and found out that the bottom two coils are rubbing each other. After 400 miles its rubbed the powdercoat off to the bare metal. They put some rubber hose on to the spring and its completely silent. Love it! The rear springs came with isolators. The front did not. With the amount of rubbing I doubted isolators or the rubber they put in there was going to last long.
After a couple weeks Eibach acknowledged the issue and said the springs need isolators. Shipped a pair out and the shop installed those. All was well for probably another 500 miles, maybe a bit more and now the noise is back. I haven't had a chance to take it back into the shop or jack it up myself to see if it has rubbed through the isolators or what, but that is what i suspect.
The car rides great and looks great. Ill keep this thread updated when I find out more.

mine came shipped with the isolaters front and rear. And to steve, yes I meant the spare tire jack. Mine wiggled loose twice and rattled like hell in the back. now as for your question about the struts. at low speeds your springs are doing all the work, only on a solid bump is your strut doing anything. once I get my springs from eibach and my sway bar, and everything put back on we will see if the noise quits all together.

Ohhh, so in your first post you meant to say the struts AREN'T doing much. That actually makes sense to me now.
And what do you mean by "get your springs from eibach"? Did you send them back or something? What do you have going on?

Are the replacement springs they are sending you going to have insulators on the front as well? Also, I didn't think they had dampers and sways available for the 2011 yet...
I should have one of the first full sets. I sent alot of letters and finally somone contacted me and I told them I wanted the whole set, they told me that if they are ready I should be able to get the whole set. if not they will send me the new springs and have my name on a list when the rest is ready to send them payment and ship them out to me.
I wanted the Eibach springs myself. I loved how they improved my lil' brothers Mustang.
To be completely honest though, once I changed my wheels and tires the S-Tech's started to shine. They are good enough I doubt I will ever change them.

Yeah, no doubt. If nothing is wrong with them then don't waste any time/money replacing them. I was checking out your wheels too. From what I hear, saving unsprung weight in wheels is much more noticeable than saving it elsewhere.
