Hi guys,

I'm somewhat new in the performance mod department. I just installed my K&N and LOVE IT! I want to do much more! But before I order the DC headers, I need a couple questions answered. If anyone has these headers and would like to chime in, please do so. It's most appreciated.

1> Will these headers void my warranty and make my car impossible to pass smog? My car is less than a year old. I'm a bit hazy on California laws as far as performance mods are concerned.

2> With my current intake and exhaust combination, will these headers make my car sound like a farty chunk of junk? Right now with just the intake and exhaust it sounds meaner than hell, but I would like to squeeze some more ponies out of the car without taking the overly ricey route.

3> What are your thoughts on this DC product? And if you can think of any others that you feel would be a better fit for my car, please feel free to tell me! I'm very open to suggestions.

Thanks a lot guys.

I would say that you probably won't be able to pass SMOG with the header since there is no cat. It does sound kinda raspy at higher RPM, but the gains are worth the price of the sound. I have it on my car and if you do the spark plug anti-fouler mod then you don't get the CEL and all is well. But as far as the SMOG thing I doubt that you will pass it. Overall its a fairly good quality product.

Thanks SupaWhitetC,

Could you or anyone else provide me with a link for this 'spark plug anti-fouler trick' ?
I need to do a bit more research before I decide between DC or Megan, or either at all. Thanks!

I hope you still have your stock exhaust if you plan on installing the DC headers. When I had the K & N CAI with the TRD exhaust, it sounded perfect. After the headers, the TRD exhaust will sound like a rice can. I sold my TRD and installed my stock exhaust cause the car sounded annoying like a POS Civic . It seems that the TRD exhaust was not meant to handle the extra backflow the header produce.

Unfortunately I have the same setup as you do, nor do I have the stock exhaust since my TRD exhaust was factory installed. I'll definitely listen to that sound clip when I get off from work. I love the current TRD exhaust/K&N combination right now and would hate to mess it all up for a couple of ponies and a CEL. Thanks!

Sorry man I can't find that thread. All you do is buy 2 18mm spark plug anti-foulers and drill one out to 1/2" and leave the other alone. Thread the normal one into the second O2 sensor hole then the drilled one into it and finally thread the sensor into those. Boom your CEL is gone.

Ok, looks like I have a lot of reading to do! I have absolutely no clue as to where any O2 sensors are located, nor do I have any knowledge about anti-foulers to do any kind of drilling. If you're willing to explain the whole process I'll gladly follow it all step-by-step but that's quite a bit to ask of someone, especially for a mod newbie like myself :P Thanks again for the point in the right direction.

Here's the orginal thread:
http://www.scionlife.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=49748

and a how to with pics:
http://forums.evolutionm.net/printthread.php?t=99137

The summary of the tC's exhaust system:
1. Header with 1st O2 sensor attached (and 1st cat built in if stock)
2. S-pipe with 2nd O2 sensor (this one causes the CEL)
3. 2nd cat attached to pipe to rear axle
4. your axleback (stock, TRD, etc.)
