Default Sound system do over

Edit 1/8/2010

So since i changed my sub i have been SO happy. for those who dont know i made another thread about that.

Dual bp1204 and boss ar1500m amp=sexytimes

So heres my next plan. I WANT CLARITY so i narrowed it down to these two unless a huge sale comes up

Amazon Amazon

Powered by

http://www.ebay.com/itm/New-BOSS-CE1...ht_3833wt_1185

Or
http://www.ebay.com/itm/120834182437...84.m1423.l2649

Possibly the same amp. or a differnet boss one.

Anyone use either of those two component speakers? i'll be moving my 6022is to the back.or maybe sell them if someone wants some AWESOME full range

So for the past year i been running the following
infinity 6022i speakers on all 4
103t tweeters

Rockford prime 4 channel amp
and a visonik 350 mono amp powering a rockford fosgate p1-110 enclosed sub system.

and random wiring that i just found on ebay.

that setup is AWESOME for just starting out. but i want to go bigger.the one thing i love about my setup is that is CLEAR. its not just loud. unless u really start pushing it. which is what i want to start doing. right now windows down doing 70 miles an hour. sounds ok. i want to start doing small sound shows or just i want it to be more effective. That one lil sub IS GREAT. but i want more vibration.

So in the summer heres what i want to do. in addition of selling my current system

Let me know what you guys think. I've never worked with component speakers, just simple swaps

oh and HU is avhp4100-dvd

http://www.crutchfield.com/p_500SPS6...0C.html?tp=106

and i'm leaving my rears with just one set of the 6022i that i already have

So my questions

Whats a good amp for all of this. (i'd like to keep it under 300)
http://www.crutchfield.com/p_777B24/...24.html?tp=112

maybe a sub like that. I want go dual. (im a dj so i cant have a permanant installation)

So what do you guys think about that? I'm trying to keep the clear but powerful system thing I've started. Im not interested in bone crunching bass and enough vibration i can tip over a cow.

So ideas/comments/if u just wanna say hi to me thats cool too i know its been awhile?

Swag.

I am currently running 2 pioneer shallow 12s 250watt rms each with a alpine vpower class d amp. The subs are fantastic and sound incredible, paired with the amp its perfect. I have the doors done and it is just the right amount of bass on any form of song. Rock or rap or anything at all.

dont do it. They were bringing that stuff into best buy before I left. Check the black friday ad if you can find it. they'll probably have that box with a dual amp for like 150.

i think it has an amp. what im thinking is that box is dope. with the lights. sell the facotry amp that comes with it. and some time later switch up the subs that are in there? ive never heard one in person but the YT vids didn't sound half bad. i also like shiny things

Honestly bro, it really depends on how loud you want to go and what audio competition format you end to compete in.
USACi, dB Drag, and others don't use the same rules. That Dual setup is junk. Period, end of story. JUNK. It's cheap, but cheap ain't always good.

In my opinion, come up with a legitimate budget and reasonable goals. That way people can give you a better choice of what to run. I'm sure there's cabinet shops up there that can build you a GOOD enclosure, you just need a design.

My car, for example:

You could get a Sundown Audio SA-8 subwoofer, put it in the right enclosure, and it will be louder than that Dual setup. It won't be as flashy, but it will handle better business. The single 8" subwoofer will also handle the same power that the Dual setup can.

As far as amplification, this amplifier would work really well and be well in your budget. It also allows for more headroom in the future.

You can find 'B'-stock SA-8's for about $100 shipped, the amplifier is $170 shipped, and you can hit up some dedicated car audio forums for a decent enclosure design. If you're handy enough, or have friends handy enough, you can get it built for about $50 total.

In the proper enclosure, it will absolutely annihilate that Dual setup. It's all about the enclosure. I'd go with the D4 so you can wire it in parallel to a 2ohm load to that MB Quart amplifier (+ to + and - to -).

I have a good friend running a pair of Diamond Audio D3 8's and he's thrilled. Not into competing, just into loud music with decent impact. 8's are the new 12's.

oooooa the words you are saying are making me happy. Any tips for enclosures? not sure what the ohms in stuff mean

but if i got that amp and this sub

http://www.rockfordfosgate.com/produ...3&locale=en_US

could i still use that as well? im not sure if i could hook to subs to one amp. i think its a 4 ohm sub too. its what i currently have hooked to a Visionik 350 mono

The deal on the nostreetracing forum is pretty decent. It would work very well with that MB Quart amplifier I posted prior.

As far as enclosure designs go, I always pay www.pwkdesigns.com to design mine and I build them myself. I have a good friend that designs enclosures, but I haven't had him design me one for me yet.

You could give Sundown a call and chat with one of their techs. They could steer you in a good direction for an enclosure design.

The RF preloaded enclosure will work, but isn't really optimal. It's a universal fit type of product.

yeaaa what ii was thinking of boxing just ONE sa-8 (apparently thats destructive on it own. with either the amp u posted or one simlar. and have another box built for that rockford....or sell the rockford and double the SAs. i could run either option off that one amp right? or would that be too much power for the rockford.

The amplifier I posted could power the RF preloaded enclosure, but the RF is a 4ohm driver. You won't be getting as much power to it as if you pieced everything together.
The RF is 4ohm, and 4ohm only. The SA-8 is dual 4ohm, meaning it can be wired two ways: parallel (2ohm, + to + and - to - then to amplifier) or series (+ of one side to - of other, other open leads to amplifier).
It's really not that hard. I learned all of this back when I was 15...

From what it says the RF i have can only handle 300 max. so if that amp running at 4ohms put out 475 max. that would mean it woudl have to split it. roughly 220 to each sub. that would be inefficient no? So it would be better. to have that one amp run that sub. and keep my visionik 350 for the RF. Or sell those both. and use that amp and two SA-8s and keep it that way no?
