Default Calling S/C owners, how did you guys get these bolts off???

In process of removing s/c as noted by other thread, can't say things went swimmingly but, i'm having trouble with this one bolt!

It broke one of my 14mm wrenches already Am i using the wrong size?

Also the three allen wrench bolts holding the shaft to blower can't seem to back all the way out because of the exhaust manifold shield. I tried to unbolt the shield but can't come off because the S/C shaft is in the way! What a dilemma, looks like i might needa take off the blower first.

Any and all tips would help!

Oye!

That does look like a bit of a pickle.
I think your assumption is correct... removing the entire supercharger is your answer before you can access the impeller shaft.

Just a recommendation, if you are going to have it off the car... replace all the seals and make yourself a grease fitting on the pulley side.

The grease fitting will extend your bearing life and the new seals will prevent the stock inevitability of breaking... thank you TRD....

Grease fitting: check with Gompka, he has details on how to...

Ive taken off much worse 14mm bolts using my trusty craftsmen 14mm wrench (using the closed end) - ive used a long piece of 1.5" tubing to make it a giant breaker bar

I'm not sure of all the parts and proper names for supercharger parts, but my plan is to rebuild the whole thing, and replace the bearings and seals. What is this grease fitting on the pulley side? Does the pulley side bearings not have any grease to begin with? I will find out when i get this thing open.

Thanks , i had used a 2" metal tube to transform my wrench into a breaker bar, and this was the result. I'll try it again with a higher quality wrench. They sell a 6 point closed wrench?

Sorry for the n00b question.

are you trying to loosen the bolt smooth and slow? instead just hit the extension bar with your palm or rubber malet quick and fast to provide quick jolts tothe bolt and loosen it thats how i got my buddy's s/c off

That bolt shouldn't be difficult to remove, it should have only been torqued down to 14 ft/lb. Try combining two wrenchs for extra leverage and torque.

Honestly, by the looks of things, it seems like your going backwards. You should be removing the s/c from the s/c tranny bracket or unbolting the bracket directly off the tranny.

I don't know if you have installation instructions, but you should use it by starting from the end of the guide and following the instructions backwards.

Yeah my original idea was to just take off the shaft and leave the blower in if I can. I saw someone's youtube video do it that way, thats why i took off the 3 allen bolts on the horseshoe bracket.

But yes, now I will be unbolting the 3 allen wrench bolts from the S/C transmission bracket as well. Thanks for the link to the PDF!
