Default 2006 Scion xB rough idle??? HELP!

I have a 2006 Scion xB with almost 150k miles and still runs like a tank until now here's the problem...it runs/idles rough ONLY when I fill up with gas.
Idles so bad that it now dies after a couple of seconds of start up. I also get no check engine lights...ever... things I have done to try and fix problem.

1. New vapor canister
2. Cleaned MAF sensor
3. Cleaned idle control valve
4. Fuel filter
5. Injector cleaner
6. ????

Did you ever change the fuel filter/assembly? Just guessing, this may help

Good luck

Next time fill only to half a tank. See if it changes anything about your problem.

U made a list like u did the injector cleaner and now see I u wrote u put injector cleaner in the gas tank. o we don't know excactly what u did prior? Did u remove the injectors + soak them and or/ clean them thru a engine vacuum line? Soaking the injectors in cleaner like SEAFOAM will clean the "exterior"/outer surfaces of the injector,
http://www.seafoamsales.com/how-to-u...treatment.html
Or u can get them professional cleaned.

Good Luck

no i didnt take the injectors out to clean them just a bottle of cleaner in the gas tank to see what it would do. i also just put my stock air box back on and replaced a hose that runs from my charcoal canister to my throttle body and still no change. and as far as tune up i do the plugs offten. i was also thinking maybe coils need to be done? people tell me no and and others say yes. some say they just go out. idk?
and now the idle creeps up and down when its not in gear(stick) like between 850 to 600 once i drive it a lil bit.

It is weird why your check engine light never comes on.

Remember U have over 150K miles on your car. The gas tank method of cleaning your injectors may not be the best way to clean your injectors if that is the problem. U may even have a bad injector. Continue on your problem solving check list to resolve the problem if u don't wish to take your car to a mechanic.

Coil On Plugs don't have a maintenance interval. Unless there is a problem - cracked insulation, rubber deteriorated, missfire - they should last the life of the vehicle. U can do a coil plug test on the car or a bench test
http://autorepair.about.com/od/troub...est-manual.htm

Have u ever looked at the PCV valve? If the PCV valve is clogged, your car might spit and sputter or even stall while driving.

Good Luck.

Coil packs? If your car is losing power, shuddering at idle, has a dramatic change for the worst in gas mileage, consider that it might be your spark plug ignition coil packs that are giving you that headache.

But if you're on a budget like I am, before spending your money, it's worth your time to try this quick fix:

Open your hood, label your coil packs, unbolt them and take them out.
Grab your 91% rubbing alcohol and fill halfway a jar/ cup/ tall glass (or whatever you don't mind soaking your dirty coil packs in), and soak the bottoms of your coil packs for a few minutes in the solvent. Take a toothbrush and scrub off any oil, dirt and debris around and inside the rubber insulation boot. Let dry thoroughly.

Take out your spark plugs one by one and use the toothbrush and 91% rubbing alcohol to scrub them clean of any oil, dirt and debris. Verify they are properly gapped.

Put the spark plugs back into your engine. Make sure they are properly torqued tight. Put your coil packs back on. Say a prayer and see if your car fires up and acts like it used to normally.

You're welcome.

High voltage is a predictable thing (in this specific instance). When I took my spark plugs out and saw all the dirt and oil caked on and around them, I knew the spark was being diverted. It won't fix everybody's poor performance issues, but it -will- fix some of ya'lls :0)

Cordially,
