I've owned my TCB xB for a little over two months now and I've been reading this forum ever since! Everything is pretty much stock and I really would like to replace those stock wheels/tires with something nice.

Note that I'm a newbie at cars/wheels/rims/tires... I have $1500 to spend and I've basically narrowed down my wheels to the Kosei or 5-zigen, but which tire should I get if I want a smoother/comfortable ride than the stock 15's? 215/45R17?

Any wheel/tire recommendations welcoomed!

for that kind of money you can get good wheelsand tire pkg. you can go with 205/40/17 or 215-45-17 which are a little bigger. In MY opinion i think when you go to 18's and up you begin compramise(sp) the feel of the ride

If you're looking for a SMOOTHER ride than it already is, you probably won't want bigger wheels.

I haven't mounted my rims or installed my springs, but I've been told (time & time again) that a 17" wheel with springs (H-Tech or TRD's, which offer a slight drop) make for a much better than stock ride.

With $1500 to spend you can get just about anything you want tho. Find something you like and strap those bad boys on.

Get something light; a forged racing wheel would do fine. If you want the smoothest possible ride, I wouldn't go above 16. Be weary of knock-offs; they're usually just a heavier, lower quality imitation of the real deal.

Thanks for all the replies so far...

Question: If I stick with 15" wheel/tires, which combo would you recommend for the smoothest and most comfortable ride?

What about 16's? It'll save some cash for other mods, ride qaulity will be better than 17's

What you need to know is more rubber will mean more comfort. For example, if you go with a 17" wheel, you can get 205/40/17 tires. Or, a bit more rubber would be 215/45/17 (which is what I have) If comfort is as important to you as style,(which im sure it is), then opt for the bigger tire. As far as 1500 bucks, dude you can get a nice set of wheels/tires for about $700-$800. I got my wheels/tires for about $650. With that extra cash, get some springs for about $140. (I reccomend the Tein S-Tech) You still have $$$ to spare! Buy an armrest, some tint, and call it a day. Thats my 2 cents, have fun and post pics when you make a decision!! :P

Well, I won't be doing any lowering, so 15" or 16" rims won't look too great (in my opinion). However, I think I can sacrifice a little of comfort and get the 17's because there are more choices and they look better.

if you like axis wheels, look for a guy on here named Katch. He got me a sweet deal on 2 sets.

I just put 17" Konig Unknowns with Nankang NS1 205/40/17 tires on my xB
Payed $1009 for everything on wheelsnext.com. I also ordered the Onetongarage.com rear spacer shims for $65. I dont have any lowering springs at this time they are coming in the future...

You can go Buddy Club 17 inch wheels w/ NeoGens for under a grand. Or the new bBist wheels w/ tires for your budget.

5zigen gn+ hyper black..??

I second that. On a TCM the Hyper Black GN+ would look awesome. If weight is more of a concern then I would check out the 5Zigen FN01R-C in a 17 x 7. It only weighs 15.5 a wheel which is pretty good for a cast wheel and they just released a black wheel with a polish lip which would also look very clean on a TCM. A lot of the inexpensive wheels on the market are rather heavy which is something you might want to consider. Cutting unsprung weight will help your acceleration, braking and gas mileage versus a cheap, heavy wheel.

Of course the bottom line is what you really like. You could spend $5000 on wheels and if you don't like them then it's a waste. Good luck on the decision.
