got these codes on my xA. when the car is cold started it dies out. I need to hold on the gas to get it warmed up. I got the codes P0505 and P0511. any help with this

po505 is an idle air control code, and po515 is a mass air code i believe. just did a yahoo search. don't know much beyond that. if it is your maf it's real easy to replace. never did it on the xb, but it's right above the air box. it's easier than changing your air filter!

Is your muffler vibrating when idling that it squeaks, motor rough idles to point your hood shakes with it like a serious muscle car would, stalls within the first 10 minutes of driving and starts back up, CEL comes & goes?

My tC is doing all of that! Including the same p0505 & when CEL is on P0505pd. My thing is; I've been studying about this problem and it sounds like it's a Toyota OEM throttle body replacement! :( Dealers want $900 bucks for it ($700 for Trdsparks)!

Try taking your throttle body OFF and doing a complete spray down/clean with carb cleaner and tooth brush. My tC with 80k miles was stalling/rough idle with NO CEL. Took the throttle body off completely and it was caked with soot and dirt behind the throttle plate leading into the intake manifold. After the cleaning, my tC runs smooth. No harsh idling or shakes even with the AC or Heat/Defroster on. Just watch the in/out coolant lines......I forgot about them when i was taking it apart and ended up with coolant all over the place.(duh!)

I tried that trick initially, but it didn't clean it out completely. I ended up taking it apart and cleaning it out good. I figured after 80k miles, it probably needed it.
