View Full Version : Anyone have a 3d model of the Scion xB or the BB?
Lonely_Raven 03-24-2005, 06:44 PM I'm thinking about getting off my arse and playing with these expensive 3d
rendering programs I have around the house, and I figure messing the the box in
3d would really be fun! I've done Porsches and Corvettes and such, but I've always
been given a good 3d model of them...I don't have the skills to make a model myself.
Anyone know of one, in any 3d model format? I can handle just about anything.
I know of one... pm mdt70, he has one in Pro/E, I believe.
Lonely_Raven 03-24-2005, 07:58 PM Awesome, thanks for the lead Max!
No problem. I talked to him this past weekend and he is going to Texas this weekend, so I would wager that he is away from his computer.
Newtmaker 03-24-2005, 11:56 PM Excuse my ignorance - ar you talking about a computer program or a "physical" model? I have a 1/24 plastic kit of a bB that I put together. Only problem is it's right hand drive, so I can't drive ir ;-)

MotoMan_YZ400 03-25-2005, 12:09 AM i think he's talking about a 3D model as in a computer generated 3D image.... ones used w/ such prgrams as Solidworks, AutoCAD and mostlike 3DStudioMax.
I would be VERY interested in this as well!!
Gonzo_xb 03-25-2005, 12:25 AM I'm pretty proficient with 3d Studio Max. I could probably whip one up for you. I've been meaning to model a high res car anyway to add to my portfolio.
Lonely_Raven 03-25-2005, 12:47 AM I'd love it if you could.
MotoMan_YZ400 03-27-2005, 12:17 AM now only if we can get it into NFSU2  that would be PIMP!
Not sure if youll need to sign up for membership, but check out this post.

Lonely_Raven 03-27-2005, 10:50 PM Cool! Thanks!
bBlover 03-27-2005, 10:57 PM That rox.
Torokun 03-28-2005, 04:35 AM You can go to here http://www.turbosquid.com/FullPreview/Index.cfm/ID/251561 to buy Max model of Scion Xb. But, as you can see, it's the Japanese model (up to year 2003). Kinda funny, because even in GT4, what's called Scion Xb is a Jpanese model with Scion emblem on it. That's why it says 2003 Scion Xb in the line up.
Anyways, it's $120. If you ask me, you should use this opportunity to learn to model it yourself. What kind of 3D app do you have?
mikochu 03-28-2005, 04:41 AM Neat...they even have an xA...
Torokun 03-28-2005, 05:57 AM Actually... Does anyone have good orthographic drawings of Xb?
Maybe some diagram from the tech manual or something?
Fujiz_xb 03-28-2005, 01:22 PM 3d models looks sweet..like the red one
ltj42884 03-28-2005, 01:43 PM i would like an autocad model but i doubt there is any because of all the better modeling programs out there...if anybody runs across one let me know
Torokun 03-28-2005, 08:17 PM I can start building one if someone can find me some good orthographic pictures of Xb (i dont' have a tech manual)
MotoMan_YZ400 03-28-2005, 11:01 PM best thing i could come up w/.... I talked to the guy who did that Scion xB in that forum.... asked if he does this for a living, he told me he was only 16!?!? WTF? and he doesnt even own a scion!! i smell a prodigy here... anyways, he showed me this, one of the pics he used to help make the model.... hope this helps..

Torokun 03-29-2005, 12:02 AM Sweet~! Off to modeling!!!
Thanks dude! I use Maya. But, I am sure I can export it as obj files. I will share with anyone who needs it.
(don't ask me how soon i can get it done though...)
Lonely_Raven 03-29-2005, 02:15 AM You guys SO rock!!
When I can get a model in my hands, I can start doing some
sweet wallpapers for us!
Plus, we can test out paint colors on the models, super easy!
crayonBOX 03-29-2005, 02:41 AM i'd love for anyone to get a 3d model into Tech....awesome stuff;; ill go try my hand at it
bBlover 03-29-2005, 03:23 AM Why would you want to buy the model? The front is from a 1st gen bB.

Already mentioned with the link to the 3D model for sale at turbosquid.
Gonzo_xb 03-30-2005, 01:42 AM wow! where did you find those ortho drawings? I have been looking for those on the net for the last few days.
Torokun, I'll start modeling it in 3dsmax, lets compare notes when we're done. :) I've been trying to learn Maya for a while now, but I'm having trouble getting my head around it since I am a Max guy.
Torokun 03-30-2005, 05:31 PM yeah... people generally say that if you know Maya, it's easy to get into Max. But, if you just know Max, it's not easy switching to Maya.
I learned Maya back in school. And my previous company used Max. So, I had to get into it for a while. My current company uses Maya. So, I am back on Maya. I like Maya better just because Max would constantly crash on me.
I have couple of stuff I made with Max in my website. Check it out.
Gonzo_xb 03-30-2005, 08:00 PM Your work looks great. I especially liked that high poly character in the profesional projects section. Very impressive.
Here is my site if you want to check it out:
http://www.scottkramer.net
My stuff is mostly low poly since I work in the video game industry, that is why I am interested in modeling a car, becuase I want to try my hand at some high poly stuff.
Torokun 04-02-2005, 12:18 AM You still at EA?
Ooh... the enemy~! (o^~^o)
I work at IW. Working on CoD.
Gonzo_xb 04-02-2005, 12:39 AM ooh, I'm jealous. Call of Duty is an awesome game. Are you working on a next gen COD?
Don't get me started on EA! I was on the recieving end of that massive layoff they had last month. :tap: 60 people in 1 day! That was a dark day. I was never given a solid reason for it. ( I had only been there for 6 months, I think that is why I was hit by it) Shame though, it put a lot of good people out of work. I'm in a good place now though, much better studio, good people.
ksl_redsoxfan 04-02-2005, 07:12 AM i wish i had that set up
Torokun 04-07-2005, 06:01 PM http://www.subliminaldissonance.com/eanazi3tm.gif
This is just for Gonzo!
Gonzo_xb 04-07-2005, 07:20 PM    outstanding!!!! That pretty much sums it up!
Torokun 04-08-2005, 01:01 AM although their conduct resembles fascist-ic behavior... I must state that this is just a joke... I have to clarify this so i don't get sued by EA. And the fact that Nazis were way more evil... I would know... I live with WWII stuff...
Anyways, how is the 3d model going?
Gonzo_xb 04-08-2005, 01:12 AM EA won't sue you... they have enough lawsuits of their own to worry about these days. Since I am a recent employee, I got a letter from a lawyer the other day asking me if I wanted to be a member of a class action suit against them. I'm still deciding if I want to or not.
Sadly, I've only just started laying out the splines for that model. We are getting slammed pretty hard at work, and with E3 coming up it's only going to get worse.
How's yours coming along?
Gonzo_xb 04-08-2005, 01:43 AM couldn't have said it better myself. Notice the logo on the mug... it's easy to miss.

StevisXb 04-08-2005, 10:57 AM Was recently doing a search for Toyota BB stuff and came across this site: http://www.sinistercreations.tk/
They have a wicked completed model of the Box!!
Enjoy!
Torokun 04-09-2005, 02:36 AM i dunno... it's pretty bad... it's just my opinion...
Gonzo_xb 04-09-2005, 04:52 PM I agree.... needs some love. Now here is a nice model, from turbosquid:
