Well, I tinted my fronts 30% and it's pretty close to the same, but a bit lighter. Probably in the vicinity of 25%. Watch out though, it's pretty hard to get an exact match. The reason I went with 30% Is because I didn't want my front windows looking darker than my back. Better safe than sorry. It really does look nice and clean though. 8)

It's 35% stock. I put Limo Tint over my factory tint in the back, and then put limo tint(5%) on the front and passenger side. I also have my front windscreen tinted at 55%

It's 22%. I've owned a window tinting business for 14yrs. 22% is what I use to match the factory privacy on most suvs. SolarGuard 22% matches the best. I sell pre-cut tint kits for all cars. If you need one let me know, I can hook you up with a forum discount .

Yup, not 35%. Can't be otherwise my fronts would be darker than my rears!!

man... 25% is darker than 35%. how can you say that 35% would make it darker in the front!!! If anything, it would make it lighter!!!

No, I've got 30% on my fronts, if my backs were 35% my fronts would be darker than the back. Make sense now?

Well, I have limo tint(5%) in the front two. That is what I think looks best. I also have 5% over the stock, and 55% on the windshield. It's DARK.. VIVA LA BLACKOUTS

Wow, you tinted your windshield?? Do you ever get pulled over for it? I've heard that cops can be real punks about it.

Anyway ice_box, you're looking at somewhere between 20-27% in the back if you're trying to match it. Your tint guy will know better than anyone else. Also, everyone's tint is a bit different. They will be able to tell you how their tint looks and whether it turns out darker than competitors in that same tint percentage or not. If you're trying to match up, I'd be really careful. It's really hard to match tint PERFECTLY, you can come close, but unless you're getting it from the same place and know the exact percentage you're probably not going to match completely perfectly. When I got mine tinted they told me that they assumed... the key word here is "assumed" that it was around 25% (which they didn't have anyway). Until it's on there it's kinda hard to tell I think. Hope I've been of help.

just remember before you start b*tching at the tinter after get your windows done, you can get CLOSE to a match, but not an exact match.

you are dealing with a colored glass vs. a plastic COATED glass and there will be a difference.

as long as you go with anything in the 20% range and don't eyeball the darn window to death with your nose 3" from the glass, it will look perfectly fine (although it wouldn't be legal in any state any ya'll might live in - 20% on front doors isn't allowed anywhere) - that is if you care about the law.

Ok, as far as tinting goes. I had an Evolution 8 before I burned the clutch. I got 5% all around and on the front window (top strip). I got 4 tickets and they never said anything about the windows. And PIGS are asses around here WV

If you order the factory tint is it film or is it tinted in the glass? I ordered it without tint so I could have it all done at once to match with no problems.

If you order the "tint option" they will be installing FILM on the car at the port.

Being in Florida, you will get an xB with a product called "DIGITINT" installed by Southeast Toyota

This Digitint is installed by seriously unskilled people at the port. The film is some of the lowest qaulity garbage you could imagine and every Digitint install I have seen to date has been extremely sloppy. There tends to be loads of dirt under the film and the top edge of the film is near always a good 3/4" or more from the edge of the glass.

The film should have at most, maybe 1/16th of inch but more preferred, Zero gap.

If you scratch the film on those front doors, you will have to go back to the dealership to order another peice of the precut film to install - otherwise the new film from a tint shop will not match the stuff on the other door, Either in install qaulity or the visual aspects.

Also, it will be as close to impossible as it can get to find a tint shop that would install that stuff for you. Most film installers won't lower their reputation for quality by touching Digitint (which is one notch above the crap you can buy at Wal-mart).

Don't order the option, pay a shop for it. The film is better and you'll get an installer who knows what the heck he's doing.

---If you own an xA, if you order a tint option - the ENTIRE car will be coated in Digitint. You will regret that.

If there were a silver lining to Toyota's (Scion) installing film themselves - it would be that without fail, everytime it gets slow in the shop, some person who ordered the film option pulls up to the shop wanting to get the stuff replaced and in turn, helping us fill out the day's schedule.

It's junk, save your dough.

Thanks for the info. I'm glad I didn't order the tint option. I will be getting the whole car done locally at a reputable company. Thanks again, it makes me feel better.
