KUDOS ALL THE WAY ! grizzly_choppers 03-30-2005, 01:58 PM Mine will be in on Thursday, looking forward to installing it, was it a quick and simple install ? Well actually I haven't installed it in my car yet, however it would appear that it will go much faster than my Boomerang did. Should only take about 5 or 10 minutes with decent lighting. It was just "mocked up" in the xA to get the look of the thing. Thanks for the compliment though! -Alex TJandBOXCARWILLIE 03-30-2005, 05:16 PM You know, the HOLLYWOOD SCION dealer, needs to get it's act together on this. They tell me, 'Sure, it can be in Wednesday. It has to come from Jacksonville.' Yet, KING TOYOTA tells me (more to the point about it), that it has to come from CAL. , and might not be in for several days. So I just got off the phone with HOLLYWOOD SCION, and what a surprise: No armrest. And now, the parts guy there (the head guy, John was out for the day), tells me what I already know: It has to come from CAL. Not cool, promising a customer one thing, then having to bail on that. I'll just have to keep looking, that's all. grizzly_choppers 03-30-2005, 06:09 PM It looks to me like the East Coast is screwed at the moment for stock on these things. They have several hundred on the way out there, but that means about 3-4 working days before the warehouses have them in stock. Everywhere else in the country appears to have plenty of stock in the warehouses. That's why the FL ones have to come out of CA. Anyone with any knowledge of the color match? Color matches the black perfectly, it's the same fabric. It should wear well too since it's the same material that is on the seats. Not similar material, it's the same stuff off the same bolt of fabric. It will intrude a little bit into the rear seat area, but it isn't much. Anyone that's able to squeeze into the "hump seat" anyway won't be very inconvenienced. As far as pricing, yes, the dealer determines the price for EVERY part they sell on EVERYTHING. The MSRP in the bulletin is $99, but the pricing tape has it at $129 (there is discrepancy in the dealer cost too between the two). Currently, the higher price jives with what they're charging the dealerships, but I am waiting on info from my region to see which is the REAL price. At the moment, expect to pay the higher price from most dealers. Thanks for the compliments again guys, I'm just an owner who happens to be the parts guy too. Just spreading info I would find helpful myself. -Alex FrankenScion 03-30-2005, 09:03 PM Would someone pleasssssssssse  make an armrest that we can adjust the height on. FrankenScion 03-31-2005, 12:31 AM The Zeta armrest, currently, just leaves access to the rear cup holder. http://www.zetaproducts.net/images/xb_main_pic1.jpg alexw1 03-31-2005, 02:48 AM The advantage I see for the Zeta unit is that it is likely more sturdy because it's metal brackets bolt to the seats, it has storage, and it leaves access to the existing cup holder and surrounding area. Lastly, I like the hard case over fabric for cleanability. If I get dirty it's going to be my arms from working on things. The seats are not a concern as my ___ stays clean. Ha! Although I have not physically seen the new Scion arm rest, I have to believe it will be a little more wobbly and less stable due to how it mounts. The price is more attractive though, about 60 bucks less than the Zeta. I need the additional storage, that's why I'm going with the Zeta. Maybe the cost of the Zeta will come down now that there is another unit on the market. I'll leave feedback once I install and use the Zeta unit. Those who buy the new Scion unit, please leave feedback. Thanks. TJandBOXCARWILLIE 03-31-2005, 06:14 AM I am told, as of late WEDNESDAY, that all of these arm rests are on Serious back order. NYCxB 04-02-2005, 05:10 PM Mine will be here in NYC by Tuesday (shipped yesterday) from NewScionParts.com They had it in stock and I ordered it on Wednesday. grizzly_choppers 04-02-2005, 06:04 PM Latest pricing update: According to my guys at the KC region office, the current pricing tapes that the dealerships have on these parts are WRONG! If I were you, I would wait a week (when the new tapes should be put through) and then check the pricing again. The list price from Scion should be the $99 price. Of course, all dealerships set their own pricing so they may choose to just sell them for the $129 price even after the tapes change. I'll let everyone know when we get ours updated in the system. Did that make sense? Hope so! -Alex fsr20det 04-03-2005, 01:24 AM why is everyone still talking about prices and stuff when carson scion sells the for $79.00?!?!?!?!? pitbull_xb 04-03-2005, 01:40 AM got one of these oe arm rests. not worth your time. its a waste of money and looks like crap TxBox 04-03-2005, 04:10 AM got one of these oe arm rests. not worth your time. its a waste of money and looks like crap I take it you have a car now, or just the armrest? Sciond 04-03-2005, 12:40 PM hmmmm I like this armrest.....I may change out the Boomerang one for it...if the height is better..the Boomerang is too low grizzly_choppers 04-04-2005, 12:55 AM hmmmm I like this armrest.....I may change out the Boomerang one for it...if the height is better..the Boomerang is too low I swapped out my Boomerang for this one and am pleased with the results. I think it may be a bit higher, but the biggest bonus is that I can access the seat belt buckle again. I'm not a tiny person (6'3", 250) and I wear a Leatherman on my hip so it was slightly difficult to get at the belt buckle in an emergency for me. This new armrest alleviates that problem and gives me back my rear cup holder too. I have to disagree with the comment that it is flimsy since I put my full weight on it and everything held (not that I do that a lot or anything, but I wanted to test it). We did a little road trip to a club meet today and I was very pleased with it. My passengers in the back seat (2 buddies from work, not little kids or anything) had no "lack of space" issues with the cup holder. I like being able to flip it up when I don't want it as well. Not a convenience I absolutely NEED, but it's nice. The only downside is the lack of storage. Since I only had change in the Boomerang anyway it's not a big deal to me. I just put the change in the ashtray since I don't smoke. So, that's my review. Agree with me or don't. I hope it was helpful to some. -Alex TJandBOXCARWILLIE 04-04-2005, 05:14 AM ^^^ Nice pics! Thanks! TJandBOXCARWILLIE 04-04-2005, 06:05 PM I just got mine! Both! One for the xB, and one for the xA. They go in easy. It's a snap. About 15 minutes for the xB (the first one done), and then about 5 minutes for the xA. Nice fit, comfy, and look great. They do not take up much rear leg room at all in the car. Well, the xA has a bit less rear leg room then the xB, but I kinda figured that going in. Thumbs up for a great product!   Matts_xB 04-05-2005, 07:17 PM I just installed mine it took about 5 minutes... The little tricky wire thing took 3 minutes to hook in its place on the lower piece. It looks great!!! http://www.textamerica.com/user.images.x/69/IMG_373769/_0405/T520050405121229236.jpg http://www.textamerica.com/user.images.x/69/IMG_373769/_0405/T520050405121317595.jpg http://www.textamerica.com/user.images.x/69/IMG_373769/_0405/T520050405121330220.jpg kaos672 04-05-2005, 08:43 PM Looks good. I like that the fabric matches the interior. I have to order one soon. mikochu 04-05-2005, 08:46 PM Neat! It looks pretty good. Skylab™ 04-05-2005, 10:51 PM I ordered the armrest yesterday from newscionparts.com, and it came via UPS today! However, the armrest came broken in three pieces. The swivel mount at the rear of the armrest is broken. If it broke during shipping, I don't see how it's going to tolerate daily use! I should mention that there were NO PACKING MATERIALS inside...no bubble plastic, and no foam peanuts! I called Carson Toyota immediately, so it can be returned, and money refunded. MacMaster 04-05-2005, 11:09 PM ooooooh, that aint good :nails: I ordered mine from newscionparts.com also, hope it comes soon, and hope it isn't broken like yours. CANT WAIT UNTIL I CAN REST MY ARM!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WOOT woot WOOT woot :silly: :silly: :silly: TJandBOXCARWILLIE 04-06-2005, 12:09 AM However, the armrest came broken in three pieces. I should mention that there were NO PACKING MATERIALS inside...no bubble plastic, and no foam peanuts! Well, when mine came in, it was wrapped in plastic. No broken parts. And it's solid. I put some weight on it, and no problem. Sorry yours was broken. Maybe you got the bad one in the bunch. FrankenScion 04-06-2005, 12:12 AM Maybe plastic is just weak. :) sammydad1 04-06-2005, 02:08 AM Hi, Got mine in today from Newscionparts. Took like 10 mins to install....my reading glasses had difficulty focusing on the little hook things on the chair rails.... But it looks nice. As solid as plastic can be.... I notice, for me, my forearm seems to rub on the front part of the armrest as I shift gears. The material is kinda rough to that extent. Its a little awkward setting the emergency brake when parking, only in that you have to move the armrest up to pull the brake lever...no biggie tho.... I am very happy to have it all in all. Dave mikem53 04-07-2005, 02:05 AM Installed the OE scion armrest today... Took 5 minutes, It looks OEM. It fits perfectly and looks totally factory. Well worth the $80.. Glad I waited. Will try and get some pics and post them NYCxB 04-07-2005, 03:32 AM Got mine today from newscionparts. Put it in and viola, we gots ourselves an armrest! OK, my minor complaints iinclude how it blocks the hand brake and I'm not digging the suspended cupholder in the back, but again I am glad I got it. $79.00 plus shipping. TJandBOXCARWILLIE 04-07-2005, 05:46 AM However, that suspened cupholder in the back is deeper then the one in the front. Which is a Good Thing™, IMHO. ScoobyVan 04-07-2005, 04:57 PM OK, my minor complaints include how it blocks the hand brake Same here, I have to reach forward of the armrest to set and release the brake...I don't lift the armrest up every time, that would be too much work for a lazy guy like me :lalala: It makes access to the seatbelt a little tougher...I guess for the guys changing from another armrest they are accustomed to both of these things, but I have not had an armrest in the box since I bought it so I'm still getting used to it... Truthfully, a week after instaling it I don't find myself even using the armrest...I tend to drive this car with my right hand on the wheel (auto trans) and my left arm on the door sill...but my passenger may use it, and even if neither one of us does, it does give the interior a more finished look... xyzbox 04-10-2005, 01:48 AM finally recieved my scion armrest. I must say for the money it is well worth it. Installation was too easy . Only one complaint is it is a little to low but just pimp down and to the right and u are in some comfort zone  masubi 04-10-2005, 02:13 AM I need to see it, but I think I will be getting one of those. wesf23 04-10-2005, 02:16 AM Does it block the use of the emergency brake, some of you say yes and others haven't commented on it? TJandBOXCARWILLIE 04-10-2005, 02:47 AM I have not noticed a problem with getting to the e-brake. sammydad1 04-10-2005, 03:27 AM Hi, I wouldn't say it gets in the way of the emergency brake, but whatever arm actions you used to use, you will likely have to modify them once the OEM armrest is in place. For me, sometimes I reach all the way over the armrest to get at the brake handle/release, or I simply put the armrest up. I guess it will depend on how long your arms are etc... I prefer the arm rest being there, than no armrest. THAT is my bottom line. Dave Max2k 04-10-2005, 05:12 AM Skylab: if you think about it, everyday use in your car isn't that rigorous. Tail lights can shatter if they're dropped 6", but they're not breaking all over the place. The UPS people probably tossed your armrest around quite a bit. Your car doesn't see that kind of turbulence. I'm waiting to sit in a car with one of these to see whether or not to sell my tBlizzard and get one of these. mitchell 04-26-2005, 06:20 PM I have an auto so I see no emergency brake problems. I wish it were adjustable. It's a bit low. looks great feels stong. and I used my 50 buck scion gift certificate so it only cost me 29 bucks plus shipping. worth it. TJandBOXCARWILLIE 04-26-2005, 07:46 PM Sweet ^^ SCION armrest rules. IMHO, of course. griecos_xb 04-26-2005, 07:58 PM i like the one from boomerang Bruce_Mortensen 04-27-2005, 08:29 PM I have this Scion armrest and don't like it. FrankenScion 04-27-2005, 09:06 PM NO!!.........C'mon Will, you don't want one of those. WheelSee 04-27-2005, 09:09 PM just seeing how much he wants to let it go for... I gotta get off my butt and retype that letter you sent me.. ~wC FrankenScion 04-27-2005, 09:11 PM Keep in mind I still have a slightly used non-storage Zeta I will sell cheap. I just haven't got off my butt to take pics and post an ad. Bruce_Mortensen 04-28-2005, 01:24 AM I actually did just get in the Zeta and installed it. I like it better because is sits higher and I am better able to rest my arm on it. Both look good but the Zeta is higher and a little wider. TJandBOXCARWILLIE 04-28-2005, 05:05 AM ^^^ Do you get paid by Zeta to say that, or is that an honest view? I'm just curious. Sponsors make some views seem, well, bought. Not that I'm saying that is always true...just sometimes. Not that I'm saying that is always true...just sometimes. I only pimp stuff I really like. I've actually sent stuff back that I didn't care for even though it was free. I may be a whore for free stuff, but I'm a high-end whore. alexw1 04-28-2005, 01:00 PM high priced whore in Tulsa? FrankenScion 04-28-2005, 01:02 PM Just because I'm from Oklahoma doesn't mean I have to behave like an Okie...........lol Bruce_Mortensen 04-28-2005, 02:23 PM ^^^ Do you get paid by Zeta to say that, or is that an honest view? I'm just curious. Sponsors make some views seem, well, bought. Not that I'm saying that is always true...just sometimes. If anyone actually tries both armrests, I can't see how they would like the Scion armrest better. It's substantially lower, narrower and no storage. The good news is that it also looks good, is sturdy and much cheaper to purchase. It could be totally suitable for maybe anyone 5'8" or shorter. My hardly used Scion armrest is available and I'm asking $60 plus shipping or best offer. roketsciontist 04-28-2005, 03:24 PM The Zeta storage armrest was easy to install and sits at a comfortable height for my 6' frame. It folds out of the way when I need to do a lot of shifting in traffic. The pictures don't do it justice, probably because of light reflection, but it really does look OEM when installed. disclaimer: Zeta didn't pay me for this endorsement. P.S.: you may be able to get a better price by putting in a "best offer" on the Zeta listed armrests on ebay. FrankenScion 04-28-2005, 03:27 PM I finally put my Zeta in the classifieds. http://www.scionlife.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=60140 TJandBOXCARWILLIE 04-28-2005, 05:07 PM Well, for me, I don't need the storage (have too much storage space I ain't using in the Box as it is), and am happier with the stock one, since it is not as expensive. Plus, the height is just right for me. Come to think of it, I don't think I have ever had a armrest be adjustable when it came to height. scionxbny 05-03-2005, 08:19 PM I think i got mine from CARSON TOYOTA or TOYOTAPARTS4U (not sure which) at $79. Its great because it matches the interior perfectly. I don't mind it not having any storage because it looks right. The only problem is that the e-brake is a little difficult to get to now. But, it just takes some getting used to. install is toooooo simple but sits pretty solid and feels stock. I'll take pics and post. linz_xB_rs1 05-04-2005, 12:02 AM Awwww, dernit! I *just* bought the armrest that attaches to the driver's seat (it matches the fabric exactly too), but I really didn't want to put any holes in the fabric! However...I am too lazy to order this new one...enjoy guys! xBHAWK 05-08-2005, 02:47 AM You all know the best price.... $71.25 from: http://www.trdsparks.com./displayparts.php?Mdl_dtl=450&Part_cat=23&parts_id=657 It not only looks the same, it feels the same as the OEM fabric. wesf23 05-08-2005, 07:43 PM Yeah getting a scion one from the above link and if height is too low why not just use a pillow? For the price it seems like a fine armrest FrankenScion 05-08-2005, 08:04 PM Cause having to use a pillow is ghetto. Why not just get an armrest you don't have to use a pillow on? xBino 05-10-2005, 11:53 PM how is shifting affected with the Zeta storage 2.0 armrest? it looks a little long and might be annoying when shifting FrankenScion 05-11-2005, 12:10 AM Shifting is not affected at all. For me it is at the perfect height. You can rest your arm on the armrest (hence the name....lol) and still rest your habd on the shifter. TJandBOXCARWILLIE 05-11-2005, 01:46 AM The set up is perfect on the stock one, to rest your arm while shifting. |
