Default Front axle/tire noise when turning (2006 xA)

I've had this problem for at least a couple years now, I'm just trying to get to the bottom of it now.

When I turn the front wheels to the stops (tight turn) and the car is in motion, I get a clanging/rubbing noise from the front wheel area. It almost sounds like a coat hangar is stuck somewhere, but I honestly can't see anything loose or hanging from the car. It seems to be worse when snow is stuck in the wheel well area (I guess this makes the rubbing worse).

Any ideas?

It could be a CV joint. Is your axle boot torn? Sometimes the boots tear causing the grease to leak out and the joint will fail over time.
