Real HIDS = cool
Blue tinted headlights = rice

Your taillights look good though and I love your wheels.

imo~ the blue overlays would look better on a light colored car like silver or white.

Too much color contrast when done on a dark car

:ponder: isn't that silver? I wouldn't say it was rice... but it doesn't look right w/ red tail lights but thats only if it was parked so its not a big deal

Very nice, I love the rear! the front lights look cool but personally I like the look of the stock lights.

I have been thinking about saving up for another set of lights(all 4 corners) and then smoking them Extremely dark.. but again this is highly ticketable offence in socal.

all in time right!

y0 sub my Toxa sticker didn't want to stick on my car from way back. If you still have some let me know maybe we can meet up on the 16th if your going to the anniversary party.

thanks chip ..oh the stiker..the 16 is good.... and about those fronts....mmm what can I say...I want to least ticketable....that was what my intentios were but smoke will get you burn young lasses and lassies.....but what the hell I just got a ticket for speeding so I'm a lil paranoid of my highly illegal xA..

startin from
1. 7 window tint
2. exhaust
3. intake

and maybe

4. underbody lights
5. high visibility racer look...got me a ticket and I even wasn't speeding...

so I'm a lil bit trying to keep a low profile...but thanks for the props and comments.

What's with all the stickers?

Damm the laws and stopping all the fun! Haha jk jk I know we have them for reasons. I can just image "Son do you know how fast your car looks like it could go" haha how lame. I have been lucky and avoided the po po thus far in my xA.

Stickers tend to pay bills or show off / support your product / crew. I know subecode has stickers for both reasons as do I.

I've been lucky enough to showcase major sponsorship as a direct result of SE.

thanks chip for the clarification

Yeah, he changed the pictures. It was a pic of an xA with BLUE headlights.

Before his headlights were blue, which is serious rice IMO.

Now they are just going to be dimmer than they should be because they are tinted, also rice, but at least the color doesn't clash I guess.

Neither one actually improves the headlights though. He would be much better off just peeling the crappy stickers off and leaving them alone.

How much did you pay for the new grill?
And is it just me or is there a big gap between the top of the grill and the bottom of the hood?

That looks good Mike. how much did the smoke overlays cost you?

xAlex
03-29-2005, 06:09 PM
yea anyone know the price for just the sideskirts and grille? and yes, that gap b/w the grille and hood is horrendous, it looks like madonna's teeth, they need to fix that asap

you can get a whole replica kit for about $600 possibly with the grill, that gap is questionable but I have a hard time using the factory mounts to make the grill perfect if you ever scene a KS kit on site or live there is a gap..and that's a fact..mine is a little bit off but the overall effect is just different than stock. thanks for the grill comment and I will probably buy the RS 01 grill and get it painted to match my car if this grill continues to give me problems.

cost of the smoke overlays are on the site....stickercity.com....I was sponsored.

Lookin much better :D Definitely goes well with PGP. Any pics of it in daylight?

I disagree with Rion, tinting your headlights is not rice. When done well like subcodes xA, it looks clean and attractive. I plan to do the same to my headlights as well, but with a very light candy blue so it's much more subtle and won't detract from the light output of the headlights.

Rice, in the end, is just a matter of opinion.

Rice is a matter of opinion, I agree. I'm probably alot more conservative than most.

To me, rice applies to mods that either pretend to enhance performance, but don't or actually make performance worse. Blue headlights work worse or no better than regular lights. Smoked headlights will be a bit dimmer, thats why I call it rice.

I guess I just have to accept that the Scion brand is a rice magnet and more people will rice them out then won't. Thats cool though. The more riced Scions out there, the more better my non-riced one looks by comparison.

I don't think these smoked lights look too bad though. Much better than the blue, man. If you enjoy it that's all that counts. Who cares what my grumpy a$$ thinks, I'm obviously the cranky old (32) guy in the minority on these forums when it comes to "style"

You're right, it doesn't really enhance performance nor provide any actual benefit mod wise. It does, however give the car a sense of personalization, which I believe is a major part in modding and the satisfaction so many people find from it.

For the four months I've owned a Scion, I've only seen a few "riced" out xBs and xAs, though the tCs are starting to resemble the Honda crowd :P Still it's only a small handful when compared to other brands.

"If you enjoy it that's all that counts."

Well said~
