Hey guys, I am considering getting the "Walbro 255lph High Flow Fuel Pump" for my car hoping that it aids it in some way, hopefully in hp delivery :) My question is (sorry total noob) what exactly does this part do? I'm guessing it delivers fuel to the engine faster, but does that like totally kill the MPG or create problems for daily driving?

Any clarification is appreciated, thanks in advance.

I think that a high flow fuel pump is going to be a waste because the fuel pressure is regulated I believe. You don't need a bigger fuel pump except for turbo applications or maybe a serious n/a build. I don't think you'd notice a difference aside from maybe a louder noise from the fuel pump.

Whoops, sorry. Meant to say that I AM getting a turbocharger for my car so I was planning on using the Walbro high flow pump in conjunction with the Descendant turbocharger. So what you're saying is that this part would be useless on a naturally aspirated tc, BUT on a turbocharged on, it would be useful?

Yea your Air/Fuel ratio is regulated by your ECU, so unless there's some kind of extenuating circumstance where enough fuel can't be delivered fast enough, a high fuel pump would be of no benifit at all that I could see. I could be wront tho cuz I don't know everything, I'm not a wizard

Im running 10lbs on a tc1 and not having fueling problems so im gonna keep running a stock fuel system til I just do a fuel return system. So yes there's a benefit, as you turn up boost you can keep fuel supplied, but if your going to run the stock wastegate spring which was like 6 or 8 psi on my descendant kit id say its not really necessary. More experienced turbo guys could explain it better, im just going off what I've learned looking at fuel return systems and picking peoples brains since the summer. And im in a tc1 so it might be different but id imagine its relatively the same...

In a Forced Induction (turbo) application it's not just "useful", but required. There are a number of reasons why. I'd suggest that when you purchase the turbo kit, if you're purchasing it brand new from a company, then consult with them as to what else you need besides the kit in order for it to be complete and function correctly. They will know exactly what would be needed in addition to work with THEIR kit. Then you know you're covered to start with (if it's not an all inclusive level of kit you purchase).
There are a lot of experienced FI (turbo) users/builders here on SL that are always willing to help out with questions, etc.
Hope that helps ya start out on the right foot and have a successful build.

^^ See... lol.. there ya go, someone's chimed in that has a similar kit already in a tC. I know FI/turbo systems to an extent, but my area of expertise is in building high performance N/A setups. I could see it possibly working on the low end of the boost spectrum w/o a larger delivery fuel pump. I'd say ask the company if they think it'll be safe to run that way with the kit you get. If so, then great, that's less cash out of your pocket.

Descendant's kit for the Tc2 comes with everything you need per their thread's and website product info. page. There is a few odds and ends they mention but you need to contact them. They have made some changes along the way. As others stated you probably won't need the fuel pump unless you plan on more than 10psi.

Thanks for the words of wisdom "Mouse" and "Blackedout011TC". Now I feel more confident in building my car. I was planning on just running the car at 8psi so I prob will not need the larger fuel pump BUT i am paranoid as hell and the last thing I wanna do is mess up my engine. So I prob will get this part just to be safe rather than sorry. But you guys guys are right, I will get Descendant's take/ advice on this. After all, it is their kit and they know what goes best with it.
